Ideas into Design Concepts
The lamp I designed for this project is made for myself. It includes some topics I’m passionate about. For example, football stars and teams, basketball stars and teams. I use logos and symbols to represent the players and teams. This makes my design easier for me to create, and easier for people to understand what I drew. Rethinking, modifying, and finalizing, are important points during a design process, they help me improve my design and help me achieve my goal over time. Some change I made in the process is changing the shape of my lamp. My thinking was, I want to make my project special, and I want to add more elements to my work. So, instead of making a rectangular prism just like others I decide to make a pentagon prism, which is inspired by the Pentagon building in the USA. Creating a pentagon prism would end up cooler, and there will be one more face than the rectangular prism for me to add to my sketch. So, this change helps me achieve my desire in the beginning. This is some basic thinking of mine, and some editing throughout the project.

Growth in Skills
Throughout the whole process, I improve some of my design skills. I think planning skills in designing improved. Why did I say that? When I work through my planning sheet, I notice my plan is more detailed and my drawings of my design look better than I first drew it.

Compare this drawing to drawings on the planning sheet.
Reflecting & Sharing
My advice for other students is, to choose challenging things, but at your level to create. This might be helpful because you can get your project done. Finishing a less challenging work is better than not finishing a masterpiece. This could also be a thing I will think about before my next project because this is one of the reasons for me not finishing the project. If I do this class all over again, I would not sit with people that will distract me, this choice will definitely get me a different ending. Things that are helpful in this class are, instructions are clear, things are always in DX, and it is easy to learn tools because Ms.Kim doesn’t just tell us what to do, but how it works, and why.
