Ideas into Design Concepts
The lamp I designed for this project is made for myself. It includes some topics I’m passionate about. For example, football stars and teams, basketball stars and teams. I use logos and symbols to represent the players and teams. This makes my design easier for me to create, and easier for people to understand what I drew. Rethinking, modifying, and finalizing, are important points during a design process, they help me improve my design and help me achieve my goal over time. Some change I made in the process is changing the shape of my lamp. My thinking was, I want to make my project special, and I want to add more elements to my work. So, instead of making a rectangular prism just like others I decide to make a pentagon prism, which is inspired by the Pentagon building in the USA. Creating a pentagon prism would end up cooler, and there will be one more face than the rectangular prism for me to add to my sketch. So, this change helps me achieve my desire in the beginning. This is some basic thinking of mine, and some editing throughout the project.

Growth in Skills
Throughout the whole process, I improve some of my design skills. I think planning skills in designing improved. Why did I say that? When I work through my planning sheet, I notice my plan is more detailed and my drawings of my design look better than I first drew it.

Compare this drawing to drawings on the planning sheet.
Reflecting & Sharing
My advice for other students is, to choose challenging things, but at your level to create. This might be helpful because you can get your project done. Finishing a less challenging work is better than not finishing a masterpiece. This could also be a thing I will think about before my next project because this is one of the reasons for me not finishing the project. If I do this class all over again, I would not sit with people that will distract me, this choice will definitely get me a different ending. Things that are helpful in this class are, instructions are clear, things are always in DX, and it is easy to learn tools because Ms.Kim doesn’t just tell us what to do, but how it works, and why.
Develop & Plan
When I plan for projects, I always include materials and tools, functions, details of the pathways, size of fabrics, technics for sewing, labels, colors of materials, and the view side of my drawing. Whenever I plan, I ask myself what I like, and do I want to put it on the project? Next, I would look at the due date and see, if can I finish my design on time? Lastly, I would reflex on myself asking, is this design a good challenge, or too easy/hard? After I think about those questions, I start making my creation. During the process, I would change places that don’t make sense or change things if I run out of time.

Create & Improve
Through out the whole unit of sewable electronics, I made alot of mistakes, but I learn from them and I use what I learn to improve next time. When I made a mistake I would first look at is it fixable. Then, I would think about what I did to create this mess. Lastly, I remember what I did to make things go bad, and I try not to do it again.
Reflect & Share
There is lots of challenges in this unit for me. I didn’t have a sewing experience, so sewing it challenging to me. Also, I didn’t have a coding backround, so it’s challenging for me. But if I be more sepcific, being focus is hard for me. Sometimes when I sew, I just forgot which side of the fabric I’m on, and I would mess up the whole thing and make me do the stiches all over.
Planning is very important, if you don’t plan, things get crazy.
Maybe give us more time on project two, and practice arange some coding practice.
In this project, I chose to make a pin. I decided that because it’s easier to design, so I won’t spend much time planning.
When I was planning, I drew three designs that are about NBA star Stephen Curry, two of the designs included the newest Curry logo. I chose to make the newest curry logo instead the old one because I like the smooth line of the logo. After excluding one design, I chose the design that was more straightforward to make.
In the middle of this project, I faced some challenges, and one of them nearly makes me give up. When I am poking a hole through the fabric so the LED light can shine through, the knife made a crack in the fabric, this cut makes me sew the running stitch around the fabric all over again, and I sew the crack together so it looks better.

During this project, I learned some new things, making a design is easier than building what you planned. Why did I mention that, I spend one and a half classes on planning, but I spent more than two classes making. Throughout the time when I’m actually creating the pin, I made a lot of mistakes, so I need to redo some stitches sometimes, and it is more challenging than brainstorming and drawing. I think this is one of the most important things I learn throughout this project.
My tips for the next semester’s students would be, if you want to poke a hole in the fabric you shouldn’t use too much power, otherwise, you might break the fabric. And if you really break the fabric, do not be too frustrated, you should just be thinking about how can I fix the problem, and how to face challenges.
My biggest success is I made a game that is easy to make and fun. My arcade is easy to make because I finish making it three class. I think easy is a good thing because I can finish it early, so I can finish it on time. My arcade is fun is because when my partner and were testing our work we enjoy playing it, and the customers, which is the 4th grade kids all played our game for a long time, and they laugh a lot, also they tell us they like our game.
I thing I like to change is I like to add a fence to block the marble from falling on the ground. I like to change that because when the kids come and play, the marble roll all over the ground, so the kids and I have to go pick the marbles all the time.
My advice for the future student is put the glue guns back to where it suppose to be so the glue guns won’t disappear. when the glue guns were taken away your project will be build slower. Why I say that is because we need to use the glue guns a lot, so if they
were taken away you need to wait in a longer line.
