“Why McDonalds exists” – The American Revolution in Plain English

During the past few weeks we have been learning about the American Revolution. The American Revolution was an impactful revolution for the Americans which occurred between 1774 and 1783. It formed the basis for America’s future development by abandoning monarchy and ruling under a congress. Moreover, they gained complete independence from Britain after the Treaty of Paris was signed on 1783 with the help of France. We had fun learning about various interesting events that took place, while investigating many primary sources. After the seminars, we got to make a common craft video explaining the revolution, you can watch the below. Editing/Voice Recording/Video by Ethan Liu and John Chun.

Google It – Notes

A Picture of Google– A Picture of Google It.

Google It , is a book written by Anna Crowley Redding is a book about the whole history and development of Google. This story is told in the perspective of two college students, Larry and Sergey working on their university assignment. They soon expand the homework into one of the most powerful and impactful company in the world, while going through hardship. This story is told in a chronological order from Google being just a small homework into a lavishing company. Moreover, the author introduces the readers many thoughtful, noteworthy ideas and themes.

I totally enjoyed this book (10/10) and would highly recommend it to my friends. Below, I will show you my notes about the interesting central ideas and themes.

—————————————————————————————————————–

The first central idea that I identified throughout the book was “Keep Trying New Things.” As you can see in my note(assessment) below:

As I read further, I noticed Google was growing in a rapid pace, making tools that helped their users. In the notes below, i noted down vital tools that Google created.

As I read through the book, I was intrigued by the Google April Fools event. From this I realized that sometimes new ideas did not have to be useful, or require time to make, it could be something entertaining. So another idea i spotted was: “New Ideas can be anything.”

As I flipped through the last few pages of Google, I was shocked by the amount of projects Google was carrying out, such as the Google-X project in order to make life easier for people. The tenacity of Google was astonishing, as they are still working hard and rapidly growing since 20 years before. From here, the central idea from my note number 1 is reiterated.

Thank you so much for scrolling down to the end of my blog. For more information about google, feel free to check the book out, it’s amazing.

June is bullying June

Found Poem for Humanities

This found poem was created with the words from the story entitled “Tuesday of the Other June” written by an American author named Norma Fox Mazer. To put the words together, I used online tools such as Microsoft Words, and Canva. I first chose the words that I was going to use for the found poem on Words, then added pictures on Canva.

In the story, the main character named June meets another June with the same name in her weekly swimming class. However, the Other June thinks she is unique, and thus forces June to change her name to “Fish Eyes”.  Additionally, she even bullies June physically, and makes fun of her clothing. As the bullying goes on, she becomes afraid of the days that she has her swimming class with the Other June. This clearly shows that the story has a character vs character conflict between June and the Other June. For example, I added and distinctly colored some action words such as shove, pinch, and punch to black to show that there is a collision between the two characters. I made use the font GFS Didot, and a red, blood-like background with dark edges to make a serious mood for the poem. Furthermore, I made use of some symbolic images to help the readers clearly imagine the story. At the end of the poem, I used words such as awful, and bad to express different emotions of the protagonist, and also show a slight internal conflict in her mind. In conclusion, I believe these small details and elements were combined together to form an appealing poem.
