The Pursuit of Peace

The French Revolution was a big shake-up in France. Many people pursued freedom and fairness, but many people wanted the current life. After all those events, many things seem to have changed. Like the social gaps that used to exist before the Revolution that gave the higher Estates more power and privileges. The action of giving greater privileges based on birth and social class is obviously an unfair choice to have. Therefore, it was soon abolished during the Revolution so that everyone had the same rights. Moreover, the transition from monarchy to republicanism is also an important change of the revolution. The monarch before the revolution uses absolute power and the divine right that gave power to the king in the excuse of God. However, the revolution changed it by establishing a new government accountable to the people. Meaning the governance of France has been changed.

However, the more things change, the more they stay the same. The French Revolution did brought up a lot of changes, but there are still things that stayed the same. Like the cultural traditions of France. It continued through the French Revolution without changing a lot. Elements of French culture, such as language, literature and art remained identical throughout the political and social change. Moreover, an obvious thing that stayed the same is the number of people in power. Before the revolution with Louis XVI in power, controlling the whole country, now with Napoleon in power. Notice how before and after the revolution it’s always one man in power; therefore, this could stand as a point that stayed the same.
