Caption: This cartoon shows really well how unstable Mexico was at the time. You see all the leaders being thrown in and then out of power, and all the chaos of people fighting to be the next one for the short ride.
The Mexican Revolution was a bitter struggle for freedom. It started with Porfirio Diaz. A cruel dictator who used his military to control his people. Naturally, the people were outraged. Then, Madero came along. He challenged Diaz in one of his rigged elections and lost ( obviously). Diaz had Madero imprisoned, and inside prison, Madero wrote the plan of San Luis Potosi. ( there were a lot of these kinds of plans)The next few years went by in a blur. Madero was assassinated by Huerta, who was such a terrible leader that all of the other revolutionaries ganged up on him and his allies. After Huerta came a power struggle. Carranza declared himself president and got Obregon to be his general. Villa didn’t like that, and soon we had a war with Obregon against Villa, 2 of the best military minds at the time. After Obregon won the war, Carranza officially became president and was then assassinated. That left Obregon, who finally made the correct changes to the country that left everyone happy. Except for that guy Zapata. He didn’t really do much and was ambushed and killed later. But for a much more in-depth story watch this video: The Mexican revolution in plain English.
