Notebook Pages For Book “All Thirteen”

There are two reading techniques (Making Connection and Descriptive Passages) in this note page. The definitions of each reading technique are under its title (highlight part). I utilized each reading technique with my book and wrote it into my notebook.

This Notebook page is basically about causes and effects. I used page numbers and primary text from the book as my evidence to support. Since this book was created by accident, there were a bunch of causes and effects.

The reading technique is on the top, after that I have my first central idea. I developed four evidence into four boxes and the conclusion is at the bottom.

I developed my second central idea on this page, and I used this whole page to put my evidence in.

The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys’ Soccer Team(All Thirteen) is a 2020 nonfiction book by American author Christina Soontornvat. It describes the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue.

In the beginning, the Wild Boars soccer team plans to spend only an hour or two exploring into the cave, but outside, rain has begun pouring down, and when they turn to leave, rising floodwaters block their path out. During the 16 days inside the cave, the boys faced the challenges of being trapped in a closed area, alone, and hunger. But however, through the efforts of the rescue team, the global attention, the event received, and the resilience and perseverance of the boys, all the thirteen Soccer Team finally got out of the cave safely.

Through out this book, it keeps highlighted the importance of communication and collaboration, it details the harrowing ordeal the boys faced, including the challenges of being trapped in the cave, the efforts of the rescue team, and the global attention the event received. Additionally it also convert the importance of using the best Method. If the rescuer did not choose to dive the boys out, all of the boy could die inside the cave.

Mark’s Found Poem

“Button Button Found Poem”

I read the article “Button, Button”, by Richard Matheason. And I created a found poem for the story. I put shadow behind the words that I marked out so my poem reader could understand where to read. I think it’s a story related to human nature. In the story, a mystery man named Mr. Steward gave Norma and Arthur a button that if you pressed it, it could kill someone you don’t know, but you could receive a payment of $50000. The conflict in the story devolved from the fact that Norma wants to press the button to receive the $50000 payment and her husband Arthur does not. I feel like the conflict in the story starts on page 4, when the author wrote “Norma closed her eyes. Fifty thousand dollars, she thought.” This is the moment when She was tempted, Norma thought about the Fifty thousand dollars, and she knows that wasn’t a small number of monies. I marked out the sentence “For $5000” in my poem. The conflict of this story mostly feels like a person vs person. Most of the story is from Norma arguing with Author about pressing the button. In my poem, I did add sentence that Author was arguing Norma, for example “what did you mean?”,”I don’t understand you.” Author is a very observant person who keeps an eye on other people on earth. But Norma’s three views are very wrong, but she is still thinking about their family which makes this conflict relate to person vs supernature. When human beings are poor, normal human beings cannot control but want money, it is a natural human phenomenon and so in the story, the main character Norma is fighting with her desire for money, and this is a sign of internal conflict. So, in my found poem, I puts signs of money colored with yellow on the top left corner, also I draw lots of money sign on the very back and I think these money sign shows the motivation of the conflict of the story “Button, Button”, which is the fact that Norma wanted the money. But why does Norma want the $50000 so much? And now as the conflict improved, it will now relate to internal conflict. Norma and her husband Arthur are normal citizen, and they have their desire, in page seven “That I’d like for us to go to Europe. Like for us to have a cottage on the island. Like for us to have a nicer apartment, nicer furniture, nicer clothes, a car. Like for us to finally have a baby, for that matter.” Norma wanted these things that she could not get, and so she is fighting against her desire. So in my found poem, I puts some elements that appeared in the story on my poem for example, the callphone, a cash represent the $500000, a model of the big button, and the cottage on the island that Aurthor and Norma wanted to buy, I added these elements because these stuff are things that always attracting Norma to press the button, these things makes Norma greedy and selfish. I also marked out sentence in my found poem “Why am I doing this?”,“Return the button unit?” I marked these sentence out because they shows the internal conflict of Norma, she is fighting against her desire. And that is why it is also an internal conflict.

Mark’s Tree Lamp Project

Hi I am Mark Chan. So, at the first I chose what I would want to make, so I chose a lamp, because everyone is making a lamp and if you make a lamp the teacher is going to give a light bubble which are i think more valuable hahahaha. So, I decide to make a rectangle shape, because I tried to make the pyramid and circle, the pattern that I designed just doesn’t fit on it. So, I made the rectangle shape.

When I am designing the pattern on the wood peace, I wants a logo or a thing on the wood peace, but I remember that Ms. Kim said that if you now make something you like, in the father you might not like the pattern anymore, so you are choosing a pattern that you could keep for a long time. So, I noticed I like the pattern of tree branches when I am in the first grade, so I decide to make tree branches pattern for my lamp. I considered that I would draw the pattern very detail because it is going to be cut. So, I used my iPad and used the app procreate. I made four bottoms the same and the designed a top. After I design it, I draw the tree branches pattern onto the fusion. In the process of drawing, I notice that I don’t want the fingers, or it will be unorganized. So, I ask Ms. Kim that if I can connect all of I wooden Pieces without any fingers, and she says yes so, I did a no finger lamp. I put the thinness into 5mm (about 0.2 in) so it can be stronger even without the fingers. So, after I put it on the fusion, I put my design into the Lightburn, and I changed the place of putting the wooden pieces so that it stays in a board.

After class, I got the cardboard version. The cardboard is not exactly 5mm (about 0.2 in) it is about 7 mm (about 0.28 in), so the peace’s does not really fit, but it is still correct. So, I put it into wood peace, and after the wood peace’s have come out. I want to put all four sides together, for each wooden piece there is one side that has burn on it and one side has not but crack, so I put the burning side facing outside so that I could color it after. I ask a teacher so help me to glue all the sides together, mine is kind of hard to connect because I don’t have fingers on it, so the teacher give me a tools that can stable all the four peace’s and then I glue the peace’s together and then we used the tool to stable it. After a class of waiting, in the next class I got my lamp off from the tools, and I began to use sandpaper to squish it util the connect point is flat. After I sand it, I decided to add paper on my lamp like the others, but I forgot to color it, so I used the time from a whole class to add paper onto it. I also putted the paper on the top so that the paper covers it in 360 degrees. And after I added paper on my lamp, I realized that I forgot to color the burning side, but I cannot color it now because I already have paper on it or otherwise the paper will be colored in colors. So, I just skip this part, and I began to glue my top to my side, but one thing I notice that is the paper cover the whole top, so if I want to glue it to the body, it will be glue onto the paper. So I ask ms kim and ms kim said that it is ok because paper is also wood, so I just glue it, and I also put a thing will a heavier weight in order to keep the top sticking on the body. In between in this time, I saw my classmates are using color markers to color onto their lamp and wood pieces while Jason are still playing games. So I decide to also use color markers to color on my wooden pieces. I draw a leave with a lots of different kind of green and I continue to draw leaves until the class had ended, and when the next class start, ms kim start to talk about 3D models. So, I think I would use the color marker to draw on the burning side so that I could cover it. Hahahahaha and I think that’s it. I am about to take my lamp home now.

First board game project

This is my cardboard arcade, about a soccer penalty kicking game.  I enjoy making this game, and my biggest success was the shooter we made, it was complicated and hard, but as we colabrite we make it . And it’s the coolest part in our project.

My biggest obstacle is the making goalkeeper. We are so stress on the combining part, and and the last we use the teacher an he helped us to conbin the the two wooden stick by nail the nail between them, and it was so hard. The skill I have learn and developed is the skill of using hot glue gun. Ine things I would love to change is the goal, I want to change the goal to staff, because the ball wouldn’t going to boce everywhere, ans it also look nicer.

I think this project is success, because there was a lots of people play our games, and I think it’s pretty fun too, but one thing it isn’t so success is there’s so many tape on our game, and it does look so nice, so I would like to change is part, if I have the chance to do it again. And I wish that I could take it home, but I think I can’t, but in a word it’s really a wonderful card board game.
