I will photograph my dad to demonstrate societal pressures and the escape and letting go of the desire or “need” to be “perfect” for society all the time. Letting go does not necessarily need to be all positive, and it is certainly not easy. I will use colourful red lighting to portray a sense of anger towards societal pressures, but I will layer blue lighting to represent peace within oneself when releasing the stress and pressure from society. When the viewer sees my set, I want them to feel a sense of empathy for the subject and understand the change that there can be when people start to care less about what everyone else wants and more about what they desire.
