In his portraits, Fancher captures both a number of colours and shadows in addition to light movement. His photographs include bright colour choices with attention drawn to the faces of the subjects, with the shadows of textured items such as the mesh net shadow cast in the third image and the bars cast in the first picture. These somewhat isolating textures create a layer of depth to the photos and highlight a deeper meaning to be understood about feeling trapped and/or confined. Bringing this to my own work, I want to focus on creating a number of colours in my photos and attempting to emulate Fancher’s light movement and capturing of shadows on his subjects.

To achieve this, Fancher uses a slow shutter speed but a somewhat low aperture to allow more light to enter the sensor. Additionally, he utilizes a number of coloured lights to capture his subjects.
