In this revolution, the key events are Taxation, the First continental congress, the Battle of Lexington, The Declaration of Independence, the Continental Army Defeated the British, The Battle of Yorktown, changes and continues of the revolution, and why it is worth it.  The American Revolution, which occurred between 1765 and 1783, was sparked by a number of factors, including disagreements between the British government and American colonists over issues such as taxation, representation, and individual rights. The colonists ultimately declared their independence from Britain in 1776, and the war that followed saw American forces fighting against the British army and navy.
The American Revolution had a profound impact on world history, as it helped to inspire other countries to fight for their own independence and autonomy. The principles of freedom, democracy, and human rights that were espoused by the revolution also had a lasting influence on subsequent political and social movements both in the United States and around the world.

Some events or crises that might trigger a revolution include disastrous wars or military defeats, the passing of unpopular laws, government resistance to reform, a rapid deterioration in economic conditions or standards of living, or an act of violence against the people.

Humanities Borden Murders Summative- note page-

This book is called “The Borden Murders” by Sarah Miller. This book is nonfiction, its topic is that Lizzie Borden was suspected of being the murderer of her parent’s death without much solid evidence.

In a compelling, linear narrative, Miller takes readers along as she investigates a brutal crime: August 4, 1892, the murders of wealthy and prominent Andrew and Abby Borden. The suspect in the crime is Lizzie Borden (Borden’s daughter, Abby Borden’s stepdaughter), and the police made her the suspect without much solid evidence. At last, Lizzie attended a preliminary hearing, where she was authorized as not guilty.

There are 2 central ideas in the book:

  1. The central idea of The Borden murders is That Lizzie Borden was accused of murdering her mother and father.
  2. Lizzie wasn’t judged based on facts or was proven suspect by closely examined

3 themes of this book.

  1. The quest for discovery and to base your view on people with facts, not bias.
  2. Don’t judge people just by rumour, and don’t gossip about people’s negatives.
  3. Nativism affects people in the town, which greatly delays the possible cure for the Borden’s wounds and the discovery of the guilty.

$50,000 and Murder

This poem was created by the words of Richard Matheson, the article “Button, Button”. The conflict of this poem is external conflict between Arthur and his wife Norma. Arthur and Norma have different ideas. By 13 lines of this poem, Arthur clearly expresses his disagreement with his wife”‘What, Get the button back and push it? Murder someone? ” Especially the last 2 words “Murder someone?” shows that Arthur is standing on the side of ‘non-murder’. On the other side, Norma exclaimed”you still wouldn’t push the button? Fifty thousand dollars” Unlike Arthur, Norma is standing on the view of the result of money for this ‘unknown’ sacrifice of an ‘unknown’ person. Another example is that, in line 53, Norma said”Doesn’t it intrigue you?” “It offends me,” Arthur said,” This example clearly shows that Norma and Arthur’s ideas are contradicting: Norma wants to press the button that leads to wealth, while Arthur hesitates as pressing the button means murder to a stranger. There is also a conflict between the entice of money and the moral baseline of murder, even though it is a stranger.  This could be the test of human nature, the test or a person’s moral baseline in front of the entice of money.

In this poem, the surface conflict is the argument of the two couples, but the deep hidden conflict is the internal confict between money and moral.

This poem’s background shows the difficulty of choice, one side dark and one side bright, meaning the two sides of the humanities nature. The button reflect the words of the originated article “Button Button”. The fire represent the conflict of choice.

Renaissance Humanism and Humanists

Infographic Link

In my infographic, I included the main idea for a Humanism as : Individualism, secularism, value and power of the individual,  the importance of education  and the studying the past to understand the present.  For the first idea,  I mostly agree with the idea of I think  focusing too much on the individual self and not crowd view will separate the self to self instead of a team of ideas mixed together. Therefore I give my rating of 4. For the second idea, I totally agree mainly because the current society is not religious base, thus science make our lives more “reasonable” and unbiased. For the third idea,  I agree very much as I also value the freedom and compatible with the rights of others.  For the fourth idea, I agree with most of the idea that we should focus on the whole student , intellect and feelings, but I think the main focus on learning is the knowledge and cognitive learning. For the last idea, I also totally agree because learning history will give experience to you in the present, therefore not making the same mistake as before, making history repeat itself.
