Mia’s Colors

This short film on gender equality called Mia’s Colors was made for the capstone project. Promoting gender equality and its benefits for girls worldwide was the primary and target goal. This story was inspired by a true story told to me by my cousin, in 2022, a girl tragically committed suicide due to the physical and verbal abuse her parents would unleash on her. As well as the teasing and bullying from her brother, who was obviously the family favorite, she couldn’t take it anymore, and she jumped off a building to commit suicide.

This demonstrated the scars left on her that was caused by her parents’ abuse and being the focus of jokes at school. This led me to wonder, Where are the genuine people in this world? Who was ever there for her when she needed it?
Promoting gender equality was the least I could do for this girl. To tell the story that the world needs to know about this girl.

The actress of the film, Escelle, was delighted to play the role of Mia Karpin and excited to see what she could offer. This role was almost written for Escelle, as my goal for the character Mia was to be an artist. Escelle is an artist herself, which would be perfect for the film to have a girl who related to the character act.

Many challenges were faced during the making and process of this film, but in the end, we were able to create it. I thank everyone who helped behind the scenes of this film and thank you for watching! We hope you enjoy!
