Salt a World History

Salt a World History by mark Kurlansky is about how salt was used throughout history in many ways, and its many uses. This book is terribly slow and will only be interesting to a select few, who like the author would waste their time on a book called salt and go on and on and on about it. But still if you want to read it then go ahead but you have been warned.

These are some of my first notes, I also boxed what I felt at the time was the main ideas at the start of the book, I also showed how some cultures used salt.

Here I connected cause and effect using India rebelling against the British Empire and how salt was involved, when the British lost their slat monopolies in India they lost a lot of money and power.

Nearing the end of the book the central idea became Salt is money money is power. Here I connected my main idea with how the Chinese managed slat to make loads of money, how the romans paid their soldiers with salt, how VeniceĀ  manipulated markets of salt, how the Egyptians may have been very important to the trading world. At the end I put it all together.

  1. There are a few errors, like not capitalising the first letter at the beginning of a sentence. Please go back and edit your work. Be sure to read through your writing before posting in the future.
