The Mexican Revolution of 1910 was a transformative event in Mexico’s history, driven by a mix of longstanding grievances and the yearning for major social change. Porfirio Díaz’s authoritarian rule, which lasted a whopping 35 years, resulted in economic inequality, political repression, and the magnification of social inequality. These injustices, coupled with the rising influence of liberal and socialist ideas, sparked widespread discontent. Francisco Madero and Emiliano Zapata emerged as the leaders of this revolution, uniting factions and inspiring the people of Mexico to rise against Díaz’s oppressive regime. Their efforts ultimately fueled a decade-long struggle to change Mexico for the better. In this video my group and I talk about some of the main events during this ten-year period that shaped the Mexican Revolution.
