App Design / Work in Process

This is my process journal for my project. It will be updated each class.

Product Design- Laser Cut lamp (Genshin)

When we first started to make the prototype, it was an online class. I first began to think of a phone holder. But then our teacher gave us more choices like a lamp or a pencil case. So later I decided to make a lamp for myself a phone Holder which is useless for me. First I started with some weird drawings that comes from tracing pictures and some unregular shapes.

Then after I learned some new skills within fusion, I changed or filled my four pictures and traced lines. And also, the squares are equal.

Just in the time after winter break, my fusion file was gone, and I couldn’t find it anywhere. It was a big problem, but good news. I can start making some new shapes that will look better later. (Genshin stuff)

Then I just got the idea of making a lamp with elements surrounding around. So I took pictures of the few elements and traced them. I uploaded it to Lightburn and had my first try of the lamp. Although it was looking well on a few sides and the right side got burned by the laser cutter.

Last, my project looks like this, I liked it.It worked and it’s useful for me by making a project for myself.

G7 DESIGN UTENSIL DESIGN THOMAS

Part 1: Divergent ideas

At first part about our design , we thought about what problems that are having with some food that we can design some new utensil or ideas .So we thought about some “unique” ideas , like different gloves for eating and automatic grabbers .Or meat eaters with automatic knife and forks combined together to eat steaks .And the most great design we thought about was some filter stuff but that doesn’t make that much sense .Examples like bubble tea filter straws knife sticks .

Feedback and refined:

We received feedback from our classmates that it was helpful, and we discussed and made our design better. We added more words to explain our design and labels show what that is, and we thought about more things that are less dangerous like friction chopsticks or the Bluetooth stone thingy, and more similar stuffs to one design and still updating the details of our project.

Reflect & share:

The problem with my design is. The strengths of our bubble tea straw design are:

PROS:

-Easy usable (just press a button)

-not heavy

-don’t use pearls for drinking tea

-don’t use Eletronic / batteries

-small design different use:

-you can just use it as a straw

-or you can use the filter inside

CONS:

-need to clean straw or refuse filter with more tea/other filter after every use

-not cheap and not also expensive as well

The idea for this design is when you eat bubble tea the pearl sometimes climbs up too high, and it will be difficult for you to eat / drink and we designed a new straw utensil called bubble tea tea.

Our Cardboard Arcade Basketball Game

We made a cardboard basketball game. We almost didn’t finish our project, but Mr. Layman gave us more time to complete our project.

One of our biggest obstacles during our project was people playing our games while it wasn’t finished.  When we were working on other parts of our game, people would often and secretly play our it. Additionally, when we were hot glueing our game, people would just come to our game and play it like it was okay. However, we managed to work hard and finish our game in time.

One concern that was shared with me was to make more parts of our game in case some of it breaks. I took the advice and started to build backup parts so we could easily replace them when the game actually breaks. Sadly, I did not have time to finish my backup parts and we had to publish our game.

Overall, I think this project was successful because a lot of fourth graders played our game. They usually took two or more turns to play our game. Also, I saw some fourth graders sharing the game with their friends, and I was sure glad. Additionally, the fourth graders that scored a lot of points in our game were very happy and exited, and that was additional evidence to me that our game was successful.
