French Revolution Journal

Character: Dennis Monique Arnaud

Height: 173cm

Birth to Death: 1779 – 1835

Gender: Male

Brief Intro:

Born into an average family, Dennis lost both of his parents at the age of 7, however he still was an optimistic person. He is absolutely obsessed with the color red and blue. At the age of 18, he met his girlfriend, who was unfortunately killed later in the French Revolution. After the revolution ended, Dennis returned to farming living a normal life until 1835 having a peaceful death at the age of 56.

In conclusion, the French Revolution was a complicated 10 years of history. Many of the people were killed, others were sacrifices for the revolution. We can not certainly determine if that 10 years of bloodshed was worth it or not. After all, Napoleon restored the monarchy right afterwards. Although this is the way of the world, anything can happen and as us historians today, these have great value to study at. By that was can avoid mistakes that people before us may have made that costed sever consequences. I hope you all enjoyed this French Revolution Journal Sway Book.

( If you read until here have a nice day 😀 )

Каково это провести 10 дней в приюте? / What is it like to spend 10 days in an asylum?

The book Ten Days a Madwoman is a story based on a real life journalist Nellie Bly that took place in 1887. The book overall talks about Nellie Bly’s interesting experience on spending 10 days in a madhouse(asylum)-as a mentally normal person-due to her ambition to reveal the truth. Throughout the book many social issues were with the most remarkable one being gender discrimination. This book also presents two central ideas, ambition and hard work leads to success, and some things are worth risking.  (summary)

Author: Deborah Noyes born in1965(Now 58 Years Old) writes both for adults and children. She is also know to be an editor and photographer. Her short fictions and books have appeared in many reviews and publications.

Nellie Bly is a really ambitious person. Throughout the story her 2 biggest ambition was to get a better job in New York, and document the real situation in a madhouse.

Throughout achieving her first ambition, she came alongside a severe social issue which was gender discrimination. From my day 1 and 2 reading it made me feel like she would never get a job, however it was only after very hard trying, she finally found a report job for her at the end of chapter 2. It was all thanks to her hard trying and strong ambition. However the most stunning point from that part was a quote “we would not feel at liberty to call her at one o’clock in the morning… we never hesitate with a man.” This quote strongly demonstrated the extreme level of inequality during that time which for sure alarmed the reader.

Compared to her first ambition, her second ambition was rather strange(it is literally called Strange Ambition). She wanted to get herself into a madhouse and document the real situation going on in there, but she again faced a problem, she can’t. Getting into a madhouse as a normal person was hard, so she purposely lied to the doctors, made herself look insane, and finally was put into an asylum and was scheduled to be freed in 10 days by her reporter partner outside. This action is extremely risky however since if her cover gets blown, not only will she face jail time, charges, she can actually risk her mental health and so much more. However being her she decided it was all worth and it was okay for her to lie for a greater cause. As the story continues later on, risking is worth it sometimes can be counted as another central idea.

What is really fascinating about these story is that they are extremely relatable in real life. For instance the government nor the outside world knew that the patients were actually treated horribly in the madhouse. They were chocked, beaten, given horrible food instead of receiving proper treatment and care. It is also terrifying when the reader thinks back and wonder what could possibly happen if Nellie Bly did not go in there and take out all the truth. Would this have made a difference or will another person find out? Overall this book gives large amounts of suspense over time as someone reads through it. Alongside high understanding skills is recommended because otherwise it may be hard to get the actual point of certain parts such as this painting below. Personally recommended but also should be read with detail and re-reads.

Humanist or not :? Infographic

Humanism is a believe developed during the Renaissance where humanist believed that people are independent and can act on themselves instead of relying their soul on supernatural beings such as gods.

I rated 5/5 for “Independent” because I agree that us humans are independent and can rely on ourselves when it comes to decision making. Additionally most of people now days live on their own and can still make the right choice when it comes to the time. “Art and Literature” is rated a 3/5 because while appreciating art and literature is important, we should not rly and get into it too much. However during the Renaissance many people sponsored artist and artworks crazy. Something not really seen today. I rated “No God” 2/5 because as long as your life does not get extremely limited by gods and religions it should be okay to believe in something. In the end some people just needs to rely and believe in a certain thing to keep themselves motivated. “Education and Science” was given 4/5 because I definitely agree that education and science-based information is important since most times they are the most accurate. However sometimes not all may be true, therefore I gave it a 4/5 instead of a 5/5.

Rating for how much I agree/act on each of these points:

Independent- 5/5

Art and Literature- 3/5

No Gods- 2/5

Education and Science- 4/5

The Murderers

(image can not be enlarged or else quality and graphic will decrease)

This found poem was created mainly based on a common lit article called Lamb to the Slaughter where the wife murders the husband and gets away with it. This was reflected in the conflict of my found poem where I used similar conflict of the husband was murdered by his wife but even in heaven he is still unaware of it. Other articles on common lit such as Lather and Nothing Else and Button, Button was used to make up for words that could not be found but were still used. The external conflict can be found in the first 4 lines and the last 2 lines. These 6 lines describes how the husband is murdered but still unaware of it even in heaven, not knowing that his wife was the one. Because of this conflict, I choose an Among Us fan-art. This art was chosen because it describes betrayal. In the artwork we can see that the black figure just killed the purple figure. Just like in the game Among Us, friends or trusted ones often betrays each other.
