“08 Chicago” by Marie Laigneau

This black and white image depicts a person walking on a snowy city bridge at night. The high contrast creates a dramatic, shadowy and a very quiet atmosphere. The curved bridge railings and arched structure frame the central figure, the man who is holding an umbrella in the snowy weather. The overall composition and elements gives the photo a cinematic quality.

Statement of Intent

The title of this project is “The Urban scene: Quiet moments in Black & White”. The concept I want to highlight with my photographs is the blend of ancient background with distinct modern characteristics. I want my audience to feel that my photographs have a covers both ancient and modern themes of hutong, while also using the photography techniques. I will get inspiration and develop my ideas by looking for photographs that uses black and white with distinctive movements, capturing sudden moments in everyday scenes.
