Artist Analysis:
The artists I got inspired in the Hutong trip are Sally Davis and Alex Webb. Sally Davis uses distinct colors and elements, creating a particular mood that motivates people. Alex Webb expands people’s minds by spotting unique things and characteristics in ordinary life. In the research for the Hutong trip, I was only focused on Sally Davis’s style of taking photographs, but after I arrived there, it was way better to take photos like Alex Webb. So, I chose to use the distinct colors of Sally Davis and Alex Webb’s way to express the modern emotions and scenes of people.
Contact Sheet:
Yellow:
These photos convey my research concept, the daily lives of modern people with a sense of ancient alleys. The photo set also highlights the peaceful moment of people living on a busy day.
Green:
This is similar to the yellow photos’ theme, but this work improved more in its quality. By using the different directions in taking photos, the concepts get along with the photos well and point out the specialness of the theme itself.
Red:
These photos show the calmness of the urban area and, moreover, the life of people living in Hutong. The peaceful mood goes well with expressing the ordinary scenes of people in ancient places, showing the emotions and feelings that they have.
Image Evaluation:
Our concept in the Hutong trip is to show the Chinese people’s daily lives including the ancient and modern background. The luggage and colors create an antique mood, and the detailed features of people and the elements are expressed in the photo. These features blend my own perspective and ideas well with the scenes of Hutong.
