My Vision:

My vision for this set is to describe the changes that occur every day by people as time passes, having the background of the urban, peaceful area with typical elements. I’ll use similar angles but different techniques, such as the lights or the background. In the middle of each photo for the set, there’ll be one person who changes posture as the photo changes, ultimately making a whole movement such as jumping up and down. To express an idea of “change” I’d like to have every different background, different elements, and different movements in this set. I want to demonstrate the basic values that we often forget while being too busy adjusting to urban lives.  So I chose to capture the movements that have both unique features in a single and whole set of photographs, moreover to spot a particular theme and inspire viewers to think about that theme.

Analysis of an Artist:

The artist I got inspired by is Vladimir Antaki. His style of photography is to take ordinary and daily scenes by using materials that can be seen commonly around. He found his own ideas and themes in everyday life and recreated the places and the mood of it using photography. He connects not only the past and the future but also the opposite values that he aims to show, as I mentioned in the description of my vision. Vladimir Antaki is a photographer who knows what he wants to demonstrate clearly and actually makes the works in real life. Even though his theme and the way of taking photographs change in each work, the clarity of what the work meant to show is always in high quality, eventually leading the viewers to improve on their way of analyzing their thoughts and the creativity they have.

Evaluation:

This is one of the most popular works that he created, called “The Guardians.” In this set, he showed the daily working scenes of diverse shopkeepers in various regions, so in the background, common materials such as books or pencils are well shown, creating Vladimir Antaki’s own mood and perspective. Observing ordinary places and transforming them into one’s own work is the most crucial feature that I decided to use a similar photography style to him. In the photo, there is also a distinct use of colors and the repetition of similar equipment. Placing the people in the middle of the shop makes viewers focus on the person’s emotions and postures they have in the photograph, therefore creating a distinct view and not giving a monotonous mood even though there are the same elements on the complete right side of the photo.
