Definition: Street photography is a genre of photography that records everyday life in a public place. The very publicness of the setting enables the photographer to take candid pictures of strangers, often without their knowledge.
There are the three main factors of street photography: light, background, figures. High-contrast lighting is great for street photography, because it simplifies scenes, produces interesting shadows, and can add plenty of mood. The background of street photography affects the composition of the frame. Figures in street photography add emotion to the shot. Just like colors can influence a scene, the look on someone’s face also provides a lot of context and emotion.
