My Side of the Story poem by ALICE BAEK [STUDENT]
My found poem called “Was Justice in That” is formed by a story called ” My Side of the Story” by Adam Bagdasarian. This story is basically about the narrator learning how to take justice into his own hands. In this story, the narrator get punished by his dad for what his brother ‘Skip’ did, and he thinks again about justice for that situation.
I think my story is about an external conflict. I think the conflict is between the narrator and his father. This is because his father should have punished Skip, who had stuck an entire Scotch tape on the narrator’s head. But instead, his father punish the narrator just because of screaming and not knocking. His father did the opposite thing he should actually do. I don’t think there is justice in this situation. So it is an external conflict about person versus person.
I used a picture of the statue of lady justice to show the concept of justice. I also used a dark background color because I thought that colorful backgrounds won’t match with the story. Colorful backgrounds reminds me of a fun and exiting setting, but this story seems to be a bit serious rather than exiting.
I used an icon representing justice and used a dark color in the background as I stated in the paragraph above. I also thought that it will be easier to read if I have a simple layout, too. I used fonts with a similar mood without being too various. I thought it would be complicated if the fonts of every sentence were different. Also, I think that my fonts are better suited in my poem than cute-fancy fonts.
