The story I read is called “Lather and Nothing Else.” It is by the author Hernando Téllez. I think the conflict in the poem is an internal conflict, self to self. The protagonist seems to have two sides to himself, a murderer and a hero side. He can’t decide wether to kill or just don’t bother the enemy guy, Captain Torres. (I mean, I guess Torres could be an antagonist, but there wasn’t really a person to person conflict so I don’t believe he is too relevant to the internal conflict I have identified.) In the story, especially during the climax, we can see the protagonist having thoughts and even doubting questions for himself, which switch between the murderer and regular barber attitude of himself. I added examples of these thoughts switching back and forth in my found poem. Additionally, fonts were used to identify which perspective the protagonist was showing. Bodoni FLF was used for the “murderer”, Noto Sans JP was used for the “hero/barber”, and Archtype Bayer-Type for the dialogue said by Captain Torres. This helps avoid confusion and prevents the poem from being a blob of words that are hard to group. Strategically, I placed only two pieces of dialogue to start off the poem and finish and poem. Everything in between shows the protagonist dealing with his thoughts on sacrificing or saving Captain Torres. My found poem uses internal thinking and external dialogue to clearly portray the internal conflict in the story. (the external dialogue is kind of what sets up room for the internal thinking, I guess.) The graphic design was a bit modern and basic, I did all black for the background, but it makes the graphic I added stand out more. it is a hand holding a razor and a knife, representing lather (the barber attitude) or obviously knife (murderer). He is holding two tools that represent his different attitudes, which I mentioned and explained earlier.
