The found poem above is taken from the short story “Lather and Nothing Else” by Hernando Téllez. It shows a person vs. self conflict between the protagonist and himself. In the story, the conflict of the barber struggling between two opinions about whether to murder the captain, his enemy, or not gets pushed to the climax at the end of the story. My found poem shows the main character’s 2 different perspectives on what his next action is. I changed the font size and color for the words that best represent the contradiction of the two sides. The red fonts are to emphasize the important words, which can show the battle between right and wrong, life and death. The background creates a tense atmosphere.
