"I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious" - Albert Einstein

Vision and statement of intent

(vision) The foundation of my research stems from my stylistical choices of related carried out from my mood board where I use imagery, lighting, mono, negative spaces and reflective environmental techniques to evoke my vison. This aesthetic allows me to explore themes of exploration, culture and emotion.

Target Audience:

The intended audience for my project will consist of individuals who have a genuine appreciation for photography that exhibits creativity and a unique perspective. This project aims to express my creativity through the lens of imagination. My main focus will be on producing artistically appealing images that effectively express an idea or convey a specific message. These visuals will be targeted at people who value imaginative and environmentally conscious photography. I hope to communicate my artistic vision and build a relationship with people who appreciate the stylistic quality of shadows and environmental imagery.

How will you show this message with your photography?

My intended vision is to make the audience comprehend the life of Beijing and how my images are intended to reflect my emotions through the eclipse of my images, utilizing different shadings of lighting and shadow manipulation to create a unique visual perspective that evokes curiosity and intrigue in the viewer. Additionally, I aimed to showcase the beauty and complexity of life in Beijing through unconventional perspectives and compositions. For example, I may capture the bustling streets of Beijing at dusk, using the interplay of light and shadow to highlight the architectural details and evoke a sense of mystery. I may also focus on capturing intimate moments between people in Beijing, using creative angles and lighting techniques to convey the emotions and connections shared in everyday life.

Selected image analysis:

: For image one, I love the way I was able to encapsulate my insperations with the stylical technique of manipulation, dim colors, mono stylistic features, shadow configuration, lighting, and compositions. The focus captured in this photo focuses on the emotional aspect of being doubtful, where the lighting that permeates through the negative spaces evokes a sense of vulnerability and uncertainty. By utilizing these components, I hope to produce a visually arresting image that communicates deeper ideas of light and dark intersecting with each other . Additionally, I aim to convey a sense of introspection and contemplation through the use of these visual elements. The contrast between light and shadow in the composition adds to the overall mood of the image, enhancing the feeling of inner conflict and self-exploration. The subtle details in the shadow configuration create a sense of depth and complexity, evoking a more phycological perspective. Through careful manipulation of light and dark, I aim to create a thought-provoking piece that resonates with those who would relate to it.

The second image is where I took a photo of a balcony at ISB, which shows the array of shadows that I’m able to capture to create a dramatic and intriguing composition. I got inspiration through my mood board to help shape my ideas, also including the likes of Joel Coen, whose use of light and shadow adds depth and complexity to the image, inviting viewers to contemplate the significance of the scene. Not only this, but the colors of the wooden balcony against the stark shadows create a striking visual contrast that enhances the overall impact of the photograph. This use of lighting and dark elements adds layers of meaning to the composition, prompting a deeper exploration of the architectural details and textures present in the scene.

The third image, where I took heavy inspiration from Elena Kalis, who’s known for her evormental and water reflection photography, was where I was able to use the water surface to reflect the environment of my surroundings to evoke a sense of surrealism and depth in my photographs. By using her element to help demonstrate a narrative or perspective in relation to Beijing gray buildings that evoke a meaning about life in Beijing, not only this, but the reflection through the water and the red floors is used as a metaphor that helps highlight the mirror/reflection of the complexities of Beijing’s infrastructure.

March 18 Food Science

The evaluation data indicates that our visual and financial model is well-done; our final plan explains the rationale for the set prices and profit percentages for the cheese, which is roughly 69.86%, and the pepperoni, which is roughly 65.50%.

further visual models As seen by the photos in the blog, we present models based on up-to-date information, such as the ingredient elements indicating which items would be used for the project. In addition to using pictures to illustrate our processes, we also produced an Excel sheet that clearly and concisely outlined the precise costs and measurements required for this job.

This project has met our goals, where one of our goals is mainly having a well-developed structure for our product. Our design on the other hand fit’s our target audience target audience is people who enjoy and love both traditional Chinese and Italian dishes combined into a easy snack that they can take it on the go. I think we had enough time for this project where everyone as a team worked well.

My contribution to the team has been important where I played my role as a designer creating several designs that would ultimately be appealing to our target audience. Additionally, I also collaborated with bago to make sure our product was effectively promoted to reach our desired market and audiences. Overall, I am satified of the successful outcome of this project and the teamwork that made it possible.

Blog 2 March 11

On March 11, surprisingly, we completed our data for the ingredients table. Also, we improved our team chemistry to get work done and stay on task.

We as a group made massive progress in collecting data, where we collected data for the project, for instance, the data collected from asking audiences if they enjoyed the product idea. The other I, the leading artist, created surveys of seniors at ISB to respond, where the majority chose the first option, evident at the bottom of the blog.

After receiving the necessary feedback, I could finalise our group’s logo. The process began through Canva, where I took three classes to create.

Blog 1 – Food Science March 4

Blog one :
My project idea is about an eggroll replaced with Italian culture, and our target audience is people who enjoy and love both traditional Chinese and Italian dishes combined into a easy snack that they can take it on the go.
Through the process of planning, we first conducted a word survey for students at ISB who decided to choose from 2 different variants of logo design/packaging design the majorly within a day the majority loves the ide of the first logo its simplicity and perspective that expresses high quality and trust worthy professionalism.

My role in the team is the designer/packing manager, I create an abundance of different designs that will persuade a wider variety of audiences to comes and invest in a product that will benefit their taste buds and quality of life.

What challenges will we face in the coming weeks? I think we will face productivity challenges where I fear we won’t be able to be as effective than usual, in this current state of lack of communication and commitment regarding some group members is worrying.

Reflections

Jeffery Fraenkel, a photographer, and his spouse moved to their San Francisco home in a nearby town. The two couples, who had only passed acquaintance started to spend time more.

How do you feel when you look at the image? :
When having a deep analysis, expressed by the image demonstrates the use of pathos. At a time of isolation, the contrast of melancholy through the utilization vintage cuts off the reality/political factor of the time and event that this was taken. The use of 80s outfits purposely neglect the time of the pandemic refreshing the audience with a vintage picture.

Inspiration 2 :
Ernst Haas

Photo taken by Ernst Haass, was taken during rush hour in New York City, 1980.

Ernst Haas :
How do you feel when you look at the image? :
My thoughts on this image taken by Ernest, his utilization of various combination of sudden and abstract components that display a life at New York. The different saturations coupled with the dim atmosphere conveys a narrative of a busy city, which makes me feel at home in the hustle and bustle of a city like New York. Reflect :

Upon reflection, I have learned a lot after concise analysis regarding my chosen inspiration’s from my two selective artists, Joel Coen, Ernst Haas and Elena Kalis. Through their use of techniques of dim colors, mono stylistic features, shadow configuration, vibrant colors, environmental reflections, lighting and compotions. where I demonstrated that I am able to incorporate and convey my ideas through the lens of photography in my project using my three selected artists. At first I stumbled across technical limitations through the complexities of the camera where I was unable to utilize various settings for different purposes that involve white balance and the use of negative spaces, However I was able to work my way through and capture essential photos for the project.

For image one I utilized Joel Coen stylical methods, like lighting and shadows to reflected sunlight through glass , not only this I tend to be unlucky due to bad weather conditions that affected the overall outcome of the photo shoot. Additionally, I incorporated strategic framing techniques to enhance the composition and create a visually striking image.

Image two: I wanted to utilize the Elena Kalis water reflection technique. Not only this, I also took inspiration from Ernst Hass colour utilization of bright and vibrant colours to create a reflection utilizing the water surface to enhance the overall composition of my photograph. By combining these two techniques, I aimed to capture a visually striking and dynamic image that would captivate viewers and evoke the life of Beijing.

Image three : My work has evolved to incorporate similar themes of mood and atmosphere, utilizing dim colors and experimenting with different ways to manipulate light and shadow. By utilizing Joel CoenI techniques, I am incorporating the use of shadows and lighting to create a captivating ambiance in my artwork. This approach allows me to convey a sense of depth and intrigue, drawing viewers into the world I have created for the piece. For instance, I went outside and took a simple shot of a wooden balcony, primarily focusing on the environment and structure to measure the effectiveness of my use of shadows and lighting. This process has helped me refine my techniques and enhance the overall mood of my artwork.

To conclude, I learned a lot from the starting point, when I was able to improve my comprehension of photography. Where I was open-minded in learning new techniques and styles, I now feel confident in capturing unique and compelling images. This journey has expanded my skills and my passion for photography, and I am excited to continue growing in this art form. I also utilised my mood board and mind map to construct my ideas for my project, which helped me understand the direction I wanted to take with my photography. This planning and organization process was crucial in helping me bring my creative vision to life and achieve the desired results. Through experimentation with different techniques and styles, I have learned to push the boundaries of traditional photography and explore new ways of storytelling through my images. The combination of technical skill and artistic vision has allowed me to create photographs that capture a moment, evoke emotion and spark imagination in viewers. I am grateful for the growth and development this journey has brought me, and I look forward to continuing to push myself creatively and artistically.

List 3 things the photographer might have been interested in capturing in this picture?
* I think the artist mainly focuses on using thin shadows which creates a wide variate of different emotions, and a very solid atmosphere, to feel calm and relaxed.
If you were the photographer, what title would you give it? Explain why.
* If I was the photographer, I would call it: “ Hiding From the Light ”, the reason why I call it “ Hiding From the Light” because, when you look at the image you could see the wooden fence blending shooting out some-parts of light, which indicates sunlight being blocked by the fence and manifesting a pattern which seems unusual and, abstracted.
Name one thing you think is unusual about the photograph.
*I guess it would be the object that the photographer is taking, but mostly his audience would focus on the pattern instead of what object he’s taking.
Describe the use of line, shape, pattern, texture, tone and focus
What do you think is the best thing about this photograph?
I could give 3 reasons why about the photograph, and that would be the pattern itself, the lines are sharp, thin, abstract. The second would be the atmosphere, the setting seems very peaceful and addictive, the pattern itself makes is much more satisfying to look at for ages, and contains smoothness.

– Pattern
The pattern, I don’t see a lot of repetition, but is focused more on the tone. For the pattern, it shows lines, which reflects by the sun.

– Texture
For its texture, would feel like sandpaper but it’s being warmed by the sun.

– Tone
As for the tone, is taken in the afternoon, which the sun is going down, it’s light reflected towards the wooden fence, creating a shadow-like pattern.
– Focus

-Shape

For every image, I tried using house resources to recreate all 12 images, and it was a success. Regularly I used stationary equipment to recreate the drawings.

  1. Abstract photography could change others’ interest in art, giving a different feeling or an emotion that could impact create an impacted towards the person. What is pictorialism, pictorialism is a form of style and artistic movement that dominated the photography during the 19th century and early 20th century Pictorialism is base like a painting, a 19th feeling and a wide variation of imagery and details. Albert Renger-Pietzsch, in the year 1922, Mr Renger, is a german photographer, born on June 22 1897, in Wamel Dorf in West Germany. He served in World war 1, studied chemistry at Dresden Technical College. In 1920 he became a director of the picture archive at the Folkwag publishing house in Hagen.Sources for Mr Renger(:https://www.Britannica.com/biography/Albert-Renger-Patzsch )

I think Mr Rengers images are based on buildings and structure, and nature. I think Mr Rengers preferred idea would be based on his surroundings. His book features previous images taken from 1922 to 1928, all collected and put in a book like a gallery, showing multiple patterns and beauty in a natural man-made alike.
