This story talks about the life of the protagonist, Tommy Wilhelm, he came to Hollywood in when he was still in he’s teens, quitting he’s school even with he’s father strongly disagree with he’s decisions. Nonetheless, he  wishing to succeed as an actor and moves to Hollywood, soon he realizes the reality and notices that it is not easy to succeed as an actor and becomes a news-paper salesman. Then when he thought the situation was already bad enough, he was faced with separation from he’s wife and he’s child. Although he has a huge crush on Olive he can not marry her since Margaret he’s current wife will not sign the divorce paper. As he gets fired as a salesman he is lost in he’s life and tries to earn money the easy way and invests in untrustworthy stock market and ends up paying the price.

As a reader who enjoys reading fiction books, this story was a quick and enjoyable book to read. The main character represent a lot of people’s current state, most people chase after their dreams whether they chase after finishing their schools or drop out to chase their dreams. In this case Tommy drops out of school to chase he’s dreams and realizes the reality, this situation gave a deep relating point to me which enhanced the enjoyment of this story. I would suggest this book to someone who enjoys reading short but intense stories and fiction books.
