- The brainstorming process for this project, was a collaborative effort, because the end goal was for everyone to contribute to the story and we wanted to fulfill everyone’s liking. At the start, we chose a location, and then we decided to base the story off of the location, which was the Arctic. Since the Arctic is a cold place, we decided to choose one of main characters who possesses the element of ice. In addition to the ice character, we wanted to add a character that was different to the existing character that could potentially be the reason to the conflict. We kept on adding on new ideas to the existing idea to build a full conflict, and solution. Everyone had different ideas in different aspects of the performance, some people contributed in the lighting aspect, some people contributed in the choreography aspects, and some people contributed in the storyline aspect of this performance. Overall, I think that everyone in this performance fairly contributed to ideas, and critiques that helped us build a better performance.
- I believe that I helped contributing mostly in the aspect of the storyline. Since, I did not have much experience in lighting or choreography I knew it was difficult for me to add new ideas from the lack of knowledge. Instead, I attempted to add new ideas and suggested new ideas to the whole group, and wrote everyone’s ideas down on a piece of paper to make sure everyone’s ideas were included and they felt included in the group. After everyone shared their ideas, we used what was written on the paper to combine what everyone agreed to do ad what everyone that was creative. I think I contributed to the storyline of this performance.
- This performance was about how there was a selfish ice god, that overpowered life, and it only cared about itself and no other. However, one day the fire god appears, and they can’t stand the ice god and their irrational behaviors, so fire god decides to rebel against the ice god. After the extensively long fight, the two gods both die. A while after, Earth god births from the ashes of the fire god and the ice god, and it creates humans, plants, etc. I think the main message is that being evil and cruel doesn’t last till the end.
- Overall, I think I put in my best effort to create the performance but there are also some parts I would like to improve. One of the parts I liked was the difference in tension between the beginning and the fight seen, I could see that my posture and body tensed and I looked like I was in character. Some things I thought could be worked on was the interaction between the ice god and the fire god, because some parts the timing was off and it did not look as realistic. But altogether, I think I sent out the message of how cruel and evil the ice god is which was one of my ultimate goals in this project.
