A portrait is a representation of a person, typically in the form of a photograph or the main subject of the image . The purpose of a portrait is to capture the likeness, personality, and often the character, or essence of the subject. Portrait photography can focuses on capturing the expression, mood, and personality of the subject. A good portrait photo has an interesting composition, that makes the subject stand out. It’s well-balanced and capture the viewer’s attention. There are also many rules that come with portraits, such as the rule of third. Rule of third is to make sure your subject is focusing on eyes or face and with the light coming from the side.
For example my photographer is Annie Leibovitz. This portrait highlights the person identity and is visually appealing because she has a special way of taking black and white photos that make people feel strong emotions. Her photos look very genuine and show what a person is like on the inside. She uses light and dark in a clever way to make these photos look very special.
