My Plan is to make a solar panel car that could charge rechargeable batterys to power a car, this involves a lot of making electronics. During this project I learned how to connect wires and led’s, solar panels, crocodile clips, diodes, pret boards etc. currently i have succeded to make a device that can use solar panels (produces about 6.4 volts) to recharge 2 double A battery’s(about 2.6 volts) to power a motor. This easy contraption uses a led light working like a diode to keep the energy flowing one way (from solar panel into the batterys) instead of making the battery try to charge the solar panels(which shouldn’t be charged). It also consist of two switches, one controlling solar panel charging the pattery(so it wouldn’t over charge the battery and damage it), another controlling the battery powering the motor.
The problem with this contraption is that a pret board isn’t designed to be put into use, the wires connected to it could be easily tugged off. So I am swiching this contraption on to a circuit board and use soldering to connect the wires permanently onto the board so it won’t come off. Also I switched the led to an actual diode, which works better and doesn’t need to use more voltage and keep more to charge the battery. but I won’t have a way of directly knowing if the solar panels are charging the battery since a diode doesn’t light up.
For the frame of the car iwould just simply use cardboard as the base, and use cardboard to make a box surrounding the circuits, and put the solar banel above the car so it could turn the solar energy into electricity to charge the batterys.
On the last day I found out that I simply don’t have the time to make a 4 wheel car and don’t have a idea of how to connect the wheels, so I used plan B and made a basic box out of card board and use hot glue and tape to connect my circuits into It. See diagram below for details.
