Edwin Giesbers

Edwin Giesbers is a famous dutch photographer who takes close-up photos like 12 photos. The first characteristic of his work is that there are many different subjects. For example, when he takes pictures, he sets many different creatures, including animals and plants, as a subject. Another characteristic of the photographs is that he gives focuses on subjects such as animals and plants and gives a non-focus on the background. To be more specific, if you take a look at the top right corner photo, the focus is on the plant and non-focus on the background. The third characteristic is that the photographs are abstract. Since the photographs are using the focus in/close up technique, only a few parts of the subject are shown, so it is sometimes hard to recognize the subject. For example, the down-right corner photo is a photo of an animal but I cannot recognize what the animal is because the photo is closed up. Another characteristic of the photographs is that the photos are in a light tone. Specifically, as you can tell from the photos, none of them is in a dark tone. Lastly, when we look at his photographs, we can identify their beauty of them, which means that one of the messages of the photos is to reveal the beauty of the close-up photos. Therefore, I chose this artist because he has a similar vision in the photographs. To be more specific, I want to take close-up photos using diverse subjects, and I also want to show abstraction throughout the photographs. These ideas are similar to Edwin Giesbers’ idea. Moreover, I hope my message of the photographs is to reveal the beauty of the close-up, and Edwin Giesbers also revealed the beauty of close-up photographs. I couldn’t find a quotation.

I chose this photo because it photo best represents my vision for set 2. Specifically, I want to make my photo abstract, and this photo is very abstract because of the use of close-up. I was surprised by the abstraction of the photography because since the photograph is closed up very much so, I cannot even identify the subject of the photo. Since the technique of this photograph is close up, the main element of the photo is the focus because the photo is focused on the subject in this photo. The first important feature about this photo is that the photo is using close-up photos to represent the abstraction of the photo which is part of my vision. The second important feature is that the message of the photo seems to be showing the beauty of the photo, which is similar to my vision because the photo is showing the beauty throughout the photo. If you look at the photo, you can see the abstraction which is you cannot identify the subject easily and this is also because of the close-up technique. I like this photo because it has all my vision in it; it is abstract by the close-up technique and it reveals the beauty of the close-up photos. This will inspire me when I take photos. To be more specific, I will make the subject of the photo unclear and I will make my photo to show the beauty of the close-up photos.
