Soccer Team Logo

DI1.

Client Name: Jeju Soccer Team

Background information: The fans of the Jeju soccer team are tired of the old-designed logo so, they want to make a new logo. They want to emphasize their city, Jeju, and 1982 when this team was created. Also, they hope the logo includes Jeju island, which is Halla mountain.

Audience: The target audience is mainly male, and the audience’s age is mainly 10~ 80 so, the color does not matter. Also, the client wants the logo to feel strong and new and wants the logo to emphasize Halla mountain.

Context= For everything related to Jeju FC (ex: Jeju FC uniform, Jeju FC badge)

Jeju, Halla mountain, New

In this padlet, I found many soccer team logos worldwide for inspiration. Also, among those logos, the circle logos looked the best for me, making the final piece circle.
DP1.
As you see in those quick drawings, I tried many different shapes and typography for DP2.
DP2.
Then, I chose these five designs for my DP2 part. Moreover, I only colored with red because, after this step, I had to get feedback from my friends, so I colored them with the same color.
C1. The friends and teacher said that these two designs are the most suitable for the soccer team logo and the customer’s keywords. Also, they said that orange and sky blue would be suitable for the color of the design because those two colors represent the city Jeju.
Then, I had another friend’s feedback, and he suggested another kind of design. But, I thought this design did not show the client’s keyword (Halla Mountain), so I did not use this.
C2.
As you see, in my Panda book award logo, I had less geometry, so in my Jeju FC logo, I did my geometry to show the keywords (Jeju, Halla mountain, new). Moreover, I used the font used by many soccer teams, and I used the pen to make the top of the mountain more realistic.
C3. Eventually, I decided this logo to be my final logo. This logo included almost all the feedback from my peers and the teacher. For example, I colored the color that my peers suggested. Moreover, my teacher said that my previous logo’s font does not look like a soccer team logo’s font, so I searched on the internet and realized that many soccer team’s fonts are similar to this font. Moreover, I did badges and the t-shirt (uniform) for contexts, which are the most usual products that include the soccer logo.

Almost all my decisions were from the feedback, including fonts and color, but I did the base design myself. Also, in terms of making this logo, I emphasized geometry and shape so, these two are well-shown in my logo. Also, one thing I did well was that I followed the feedback from my peers and the teachers in terms of choosing the color and the font. Lastly, I want to improve next time because I want to make the logo slightly less geometry. After all, since I used too many shapes, the logo looks too simple.

Lyrics and Type Poster Reflection

1. Padlet, The posters that express the idea by both lettering and the background are essential for me in this project. This is because they looked fascinating to me. Eventually, my poster expressed the mood of my song with both lettering and background.

2. For the song, I chose ‘기억을 걷는 시간,’ which means ‘Time spent walking through memories’ because this is my favorite song and it is not well-known to other people so I could express my thinking about the music. Also, I had various ideas about the topics.

3. These three small posters are my detailed drafts… For the first draft, I drew red-eye because there is ‘red eye’ in my lyrics. For the second one, I focused on creative lettering. For the last one, I chose this lettering because this lettering is often used for a sad thing in Korea. Eventually, I decided on the last one for my poster and my feedback.

4. The feedback I got was that my fonts are well-describing the mood of the lyrics, but since the background was white, they said that it would be better if you added the background that expresses the mood of the songs. Therefore, I did. I tried to make sad and lonely mood background, and I am satisfied with it.

5. As you see in the top three details, I did three detailed typography before my final poster. The first typography was to write letters in a curved line. For the second typography, I added some lines on the letters. I saw the sad mood font for the last typography, and I drew them with my hand. Eventually, I chose the last one because the mood of the typography and the song were similar.

6. Untitled_Artwork 2

7. First of all, my song is a sad mood song. I think both lettering and background well-described the mood of my song. Specifically, I chose black, white, and gray-related colors because they are usually black and white when I see sad mood posters. Moreover, I chose this type of font for my lyric because, in Korea, a font similar to this is used in many sad mood sentences. I used type since I used the font. Also, I used tone to express that the man in this photo looks lonely.

Lyrics and type

Ambient:

I spaced each letter longer because the song is usually slow and quiet so, I tried to make the reader take a longer time to read the word.
K-POP:

I used unique font to show that K-POP is unique.

Classical:

I used placing to make the word like a question mark because classical songs’ lyrics usually provide meanings and sometimes it is hard to find those meanings.

Design Element, Form

  • What is the role of elements & principles in graphic design?

The elements and the principles in graphic design are the skills that help the artist to make the artwork more detailed and creative.

  • What is this design task all about?

This design is all about checking the understanding of design elements and principles and practicing the use of design elements and principles.

  • Why did you design your illustration this way? (show evidence of your sketching, development, peer feedback & refinement)

I designed this way because my element is form. I tried to show that the words are three-dimensional, so I added the shadow behind every word (I assumed the light was in front of the letters). Moreover, I chose ‘FALL’ for words, so I expressed that the letters are falling. The developments from peer feedback are to make the shadow more realistic and use more straight lines.

Interests: I am interested in making cartoon artworks

Goal: The goal of this course is to be more used to digital art-making.

Skills: I think the skills I learned in previous art classes can help me in this course.

Graphic Design: I believe Graphic design is a way to communicate using pictures

The style of my project is cartoonish, this shows that I like to do cartoonish projects.

In the beginning, my options about the project were either realistic or cartoonish, and later I realized that I am not an excellent realistic maker, so I chose a cartoonish option.

I believe that my success is that my project is cartoonish. Next, I would like to try to do a realistic project.
