School Uniforms

School Uniforms

Many people I know don’t like uniforms, so we believe that schools should stop making students wear uniforms. Especially in public schools. In case you like uniforms you should definitely still read this because it might change your mind. Well here’s a little fact my mom hated DCB for making students wear uniforms. She mainly hated it because it added up to her housework. Obviously, I HATED it too! So, schools shouldn’t make students wear uniforms because they are too expensive, may be sexist, and limit of self-expression.

Parents already pay for the school but if you have to wear uniforms you must pay even more! Many people think that the money you paid for the school includes the payment for uniforms, which means that you don’t need to pay again for uniforms. According to the website Smart Asset, parents say that normal clothes are better because they are way cheaper. The pricier items are blazers, and dress shoes, which some families struggle to afford. The reason why uniforms are expensive s because uniforms are only available in limited numbers of suppliers and lack of competition. Because of this, it keeps the prices high.

Many students get bullied for wearing uniforms, for not looking good int hem, or strict rules, while some uniforms may strike students and parents as sexist. Students like transgender get bullied the most for wearing uniforms. Some schools in the US have rules like if you were born boy you must wear suits. Young Post (website) said that some Hong Kong schools tell girls to kneel on the floor to make sure that their dressed are less than two inches above the ground. If it’s shorter than the mandatory length you have to either re-hem your skirt or buys a new uniform. If you must buy a new uniform, it’ll cost even more. Going back to Smart Asset, they said that girls must wear traditionally “feminine” garments. When I was in DCB,  girls must wear skirts to school. Even if it was cold and I knew for a fact some girls didn’t like to wear skirts like me. It made me really uncomfortable and it gave me lots of pressure. Worrying if other students are staring at me.

Some people may say that wearing whatever you want gives you more anxiety, but just because you are wearing whatever you want at the weekends doesn’t mean you are expressing yourself. Imagine walking around at school and people tell you that you look very cute/nice/that they love your fashion sense! When I was at DCB we were told not to dye our air or pierce our ears. Once I moved to ISB I was able to do all of those. Many teenagers believe that doing all of those will add more to your style. Many researchers say that teenagers, in particular, are famous for needing to express their emotions and their taste in music, fashion, and art through clothing, hair, and piercings. To the daily view that I see and on YouTube teenagers like follow new fashion trends.

Overall making students. Wear uniforms aren’t good for students at all because it’s too expensive, could be sexist, and not enough self-expression. Be nice to your LOVING students who are suffering! Finally, schools like DCB and BSB should stop making students wear uniforms. You’re making your loving students suffer. Just be like ISB or WAB.

Percy Jackson Final

How Can Percy Have a Better Life?

Imagine Percy having friends, he might be in a normal school like all of us and not being a troubled kid. Right now, Percy only has one person that he trusts it’s not his dad it’s his mom. He’s not like really good friends with Grover anymore because he ditched him. Percy would have a better life if he has more confidence and to make more friends.

Being confident is a big challenge for some people especially for Percy. If Percy was confident, he could have a nice family and he could love them all equally, also he might not have the dad that he has now that he absolutely hates. Having confidence could lead Percy talk up to teacher more or even have more friends, for example if Percy was interested on another boy then he would need the confidence to talk up to him and then they could become friends, He could even write a letter to them. If Percy has confidence in himself, he would choose his own choices and his path of what he wants to do. Instead of miss treating his friends and not having a great family like most people do

Percy needs to make more friends in his life, he doesn’t really know how good life is with friends. Having a healthy a positive relationship could lead Grover and Percy to be more connected, they could even arrange their schedules and become even closer. The other part of Percy Jackson might want friends because he said this, “I’d made some new friends. I’d done pretty well in Latin. And honestly, the fights hadn’t been as bad as the headmaster said.” But also, Percy might not like Grover as much because of what he said. “Confession time: I ditched Grover as soon as we got to the bus terminal. know, I know. It was rude. But Grover was freaking me out, looking at me like I was a dead man, muttering.” First of all, Percy said he knows it’s rude to ditch your friends but then he could’ve only done that because he actually doesn’t really like him as a friend.

Grover might have more friends in his life than Percy. The only reason why this might be right because he said, “Look, Percy…I was just worried for you, see? I mean, hallucinating about demon math teachers…” Grover was worried about Percy when Percy didn’t really actually care about him, he just talked to him. On the other hand, Grover might count Percy Jackson as an actual friend, cares about him, and protect him. Grover could give a present to Percy, then they could become more positive to each other. The reason why this may be right is because in tharticle Spending time with good friends can improve our lives, especially during the holidays’ said, Also, feelings of sadness and disappointment may arise if dear friends live far away. However, old-fashioned letter writing can be one way to reconnect. In page 43 and 44 Grover said, “Look, Percy, the truth is, I—I kind of have to protect you, then Percy said very rudely, “what exactly are you protecting me from?”

In addition, Percy Jackson might only have one person that he really trusts and loves but he still goes through all the stress, challenges, and troubles that all middle schoolers goes through. Being confident and making the best choices comes first because then basically every human being can do anything they want to do if they are confident in themselves. Overall being confident and having more friends will definitely let Percy have a way better life. Letting Percy have a better life will let Percy have more friends, being more confident in himself, and going to a normal school like the rest of us.

Percy should make more friends in school or more like in general because cause he ditched Grover and he said he is “friends” with him. Also, he said, “Confession time: I ditched Grover as soon as we got to the bus terminal. know, I know. It was rude. But Grover was freaking me out, looking at me like I was a dead man, muttering “Why does this always happen?” and “Why does it always have to be sixth grade?”
Whenever he got upset, Grover’s bladder acted up, so I wasn’t surprised when, as soon as we got off the bus, he made me promise to wait for him, then made a beeline for the restroom. Instead of waiting, I got my suitcase, slipped outside, and caught the first taxi uptown.” I think Grover has more friends than Percy cause Grover actually cares about Percy. “Look, Percy…I was just worried for you, see? I mean, hallucinating about demon math teachers…”  And plus when Percy was going to this mansion and Grover asked he needs help and go to the mansion together, but Percy said why would i need you? The other reason why I think Grover has more friends and nicer is that he said, “Look, Percy, the truth is, I—I kind of have to protect you.” The only reason why I think he needs more friends is that the article that I read about ‘making friends in the holidays’ is that he could be loney and have nobody else to trust except for his mom.  So, if he is in the holidays he should have the confidence to make more friends. If he makes more friends then I think his attitude will change too.
