ESSAY REBOOT

Sources, Formal Language, Explanation, no? , no! , It’s

Obesity has become a leading problem in the world and has become a global epidemic. The government has come to realize that their people are in danger but has not taken action when it’s their responsibility to take care of their people. In addition to the people suffering, the government is as well. Obesity is draining taxpayer dollars, that is supplied to hospitals. But worst of all, is that the government has the power to help eradicate obesity, and it is a simple task that can also benefit them. The government should take responsibility for obesity because it’s their job to keep the people well and alive, it’s draining taxpayer dollars, and it can also because the problem is solvable, and is easy.

The government should take responsibility for the problem because it is their job to keep its people alive. People put their faith in the government, so the government should keep the land alive and serve the community. Obesity is when an individual’s body mass index is higher than 30. According to the CDC, obesity can increase your chances of getting a variety of diseases including cancer, metabolic syndrome, and Arthritis. Metabolic Syndrome can lead to type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease, and as a whole, it would result in a very painful life, or ultimately, death. It’s a struggle to recover and would require diets and exercise, or in a worst-case scenario, surgery. As a result of the new increase in obese populations, there is more death. The US is a great example of the new obesity problem.  The east side of the US has obesity rates of 35% or over, and the west side has rates of 25-30% according to the WHO. This means that the obese are now taking up the majority of the community, meaning most of the community is more likely going to pass away. This means more are going to be unemployed. Up to 22.8%, obese were jobless for 2 weeks according to HealthCentral,  and 32.7% are jobless for 52 weeks or over. This would slow the economy and improvements in a country would be stalled. however, it’s not the obese individual’s fault, because the government has already given up on them. According to CON, bariatric surgery is only available to 1 out of 183 people that are qualified in Canada, thus there are 7 million obese in Canada. This means the government should be more responsible for their actions because if they don’t act now, the government will be faced with a huge abundance of obese in the country, meaning more death, meaning a lower population, meaning fewer people working, meaning a slower economy, and thus becoming a very slow-growing state, or perhaps, a continent.

The government should take control of obesity, because not only are the people suffering, the government is as well, as the obese are draining taxpayer dollars, that should have been used to upgrade the country. Tax is a percentage of one’s income and is distributed among the community. It’s used for increasing state revenue and is also provided to the police, the hospitals, and projects. But with the increase in obesity, more obese people are becoming sick and in need of treatment, and are ending up in hospitals, which in turn would remove more tax, and slow the economy even more. According to the CDC, annual healthcare costs of obesity-related disabilities in the US are $44 billion and in 2008, it rocketed to $147 billion, each obese person taking up from around $72 to $183. All this money would have been used to build roads and public buildings but was then used to cure the ever-rising population of obese people. Though, the obese don’t really need the government’s help, because there are several instances of communities. The WGU has reported that nurses are acting as counselors to the obese, educating them on how to escape obesity. The CDC has also reported schools setting up salad bars and direct water accessibility. The government has no need to interfere because the obese can take care of themselves. However, obese individuals will most likely stay obese, caused by genetics passed on to them from past generations. The gene is known as SLr22 and is letting obesity thrive nonetheless. The government should take control of obesity because it is drinking away taxpayer dollars.

The government should take control of obesity because the government has the power to, and is a relatively simple task, which could benefit them as well.  According to the  CDC, countries in the US have become aware of the obesity outbreak, and are working to counter it. Washington, Seattle, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Cook Country, and Berkeley are all combating obesity by taxing sugary drinks. In Cook Country, the tax on sodas is a penny per ounce. Serving machines are taxed on how many drinks they serve. In addition, Philadelphia has made $6.5 million from tax beginning from January to July. This means that the country will actually earn money in the process of battling obesity. The money could, in turn, be used to cure more obese, and eventually strengthen the country. In Berkeley, there was a 2/3 increase in drinking water after the tax. This means that the strategy works, and will cut down obesity, or at the very least, discourage it. The government should take control of obesity because it’s simple, it benefits and strengthens the country.

Obesity has been slowing over the years. four states in the US have had a 38% decrease in obese populations. Obesity is slowly coming to a halt, and eventually should be gone for the most part. New countries also have obesity problems, including china and South America. Therefore, the government should take control of obesity because it’s their job to keep the people alive, it’s been draining taxpayer dollars, and it’s easy to take care of.

The Little Prisoner

This is my prison, its cell holds a dangerous criminal, my phone. My greatest success was that my case was neat and simple, and included all the main phone access points. I could press the home button, charge the phone, look at the screen through a plastic sheet (Somewhat blurry), the audio plug is also exposed, and the magnets are tucked and not sticking out. If I ever did this again, I would replace the plastic sheet with a much clearer material, such as a thin piece of acrylic, or plastic folder parts. I would also make the box slimmer and perfectly fits the phone. The impact this product will leave is that I no longer need to go into such a fuss just getting my phone when I would regularly just stash it in my bag and would require a whole process of taking a bag out of the locker, trying to find my phone, and shoving the bag back into the locker, where, as I have this now, the process is easy and I can just pluck it out of a case with ease.

MISTA TURTLE

My Turtle bot would have been a real challenge to build in a round body structure, so I stuck to a block based turtle, which proved to be much easier. I also wish I never painted its head, because it makes the entire turtle seem so bland in color. I also figured that the Reattach able Belly of the turtle was always falling off, as the magnets on top were weak and could not hold the belly’s weight, so I swapped to Velcro, which in turn was a much better substitute.

Most people would have chosen a distance or ultrasonic sensor, but I wanted to convince the first graders to try and pet the turtle, as it is a robot petting zoo. It was also easy to make the code, when there were plenty of online tutorials. I installed Chromo Light Effects and moving Arms. I found It easier to install the claws onto the servo with popsicle sticks

I loved Building the Robot and seeing it come together and work, it felt nice that it could function and it functioned well and fulfilled its purpose to entertain 1st graders. I loved the coding as well, and it felt nice when I succeeded or learned something new.

My robot worked and it truly resembled a robot, and it was obvious to the first graders. The Robot also could move its claws via light sensor whenever the person would brush his hand over the shell where the sensor was located. It would also activate Chromo lights whenever someone brushed its head.  It all worked, and was fully painted and working.

The robot would work a lot better by letting all its main components accessible to the outside. I let the wire out, and so as the power pack, which was fit through a hole its size. It makes preparation easier, and making the hole is relatively easy.

Jake showed me a online tutorial of how to make a chromo light, which is now fixed to the turtle head.

I wish I next time I knew how to use a variety of sensors, when I only used one. I also wished I knew how to use other motors, because I feel like part of the turtle was incomplete.

Percy’s Problems

Percy Jackson’s attitude is a crack between life and death. His choices always seem to revolve around emotion, not logic. This trait brings him close to the brim of death multiple times. Like throwing himself at a Minotaur, shooting a cannon at a bus, mentally destabilizing his body. This blog post is about Percy’s attitude and how it can be improvedfixing his demeanor and defining his actions.

Percy Jackson is a troubled kid. He has dyslexia, ADHD, and plenty of anger management problems.  “I started feeling cranky and irritable most of the time. My grades slipped from Ds to Fs. I got into more fights with Nancy Bobofit and her friends. I was sent into the hallway almost every class. “Percy can change his attitude toward school by getting friends, and there is a simple explanation. Firstly, Percy’s attitude in this quote can be explained by his lack and family and friends. Loneliness is a fatal effect, it forms buffers like immune system dysregulation, higher blood pressure, which relates to stress and anxiety, depression, pain, and fatigue.  The fatigue correlates with his drowsiness and laziness, which is probably why this situation came into hand: “Finally, when our English teacher, Mr. Nicoll, asked me for the millionth time why I was too lazy to study for spelling tests, I snapped. I called him a old sot. I wasn’t even sure what it meant, but it sounded good.” His sudden attack could also be related to his ADHD, which he can’t really control. “The symptoms include fidgeting, difficulty playing quietly or waiting for a turn and blurting out answers in class.” This relates to his hate for field trips! Let me explain. Percy’s ADHD is the reason to lots of his school activities, and why he can’t focus in class: “The symptoms include often losing items, not paying attention to detail s or making careless mistakes in school and not listening most of the time. Getting easily distracted and avoiding activities that require focus are also symptoms.” However, ADHD also has a fidgeting side effect. Judging by his schools choice of a museum, I don’t blame Percy for what happens: “See, bad things happen to me on field trips. Like at my fifthgrade school, when we went on the Saratoga battlefield, I had this accident with a Revolutionary War cannon. I wasn’t aiming for the school bus, but of course I got expelled anyway.”  His fidgeting could explain why he hates school so much, because he has no choice but to touch a lever or poke a statue. The shame he gets after it is why he hates school so much. “A survey by the National Bureau of Economical Research of 5,000 people found that doubling your group of friends has the same effect on your wellbeing as 50% increase in income.” If Percy gets more friends, his fatigue, sickness, isolation, depression, anger, hate for school, will all be fixed.

Percy is terrible at doing one thing, and that is managing emotions. He gets into fights with Nancy Bobofit, which is not condoned by any teachers in his surroundings. Percy should get up and be happy, being the better Percy, a Percy that truly appreciates life and his friends .“The best decisions come from both logic, and emotion” Turns out Percy just never uses logic. “Then with a angry roar, the monster closed his fists around my mothers neck, and she dissolved before my eyes, melting into light, a shimmering projection. A blinding flash, and she was simply…gone. “NO!” anger replaced my fear.” Percy’s brain just didn’t work just then. If he saw the bull man kill his mother, he should have ran away. Its fight or flight. Who wins, a legendary monster capable of killing grown muscular Greek soldiers, or a scrawny 12-year-old with absolutely no capability to fight. Thus, Percy should have been the coward and fled for safety. His emotions propelled himself toward danger and unwanted situations. Therefore, he should fix these problems, and here is how. “what was so great about me? A dyslexic, hyperactive boy with a D+ report card, kicked out of school for the sixth time in six years.” Percy is probably frustrated a depressed all the time because of his attitude. Here is page 2 of the article on positive actions to help me manage emotions: “Be kind to others, because this helps stop you worrying about yourself, Exercise, this releases reward and pleasure chemicals in the brain such as dopamine, which makes you feel better, Be open and accept what’s going on around you, be grateful, and notice the good things in life.” all of which he has never tried or just always failed to do. I think Percy should start listening to his counselor, she isn’t wrong! He should start using these tips to make himself happier. He should also spend time with his mom more, get into a better school with a better environment. “In a study of over 100 people, researchers found that people who completed a stressful task experienced a faster recovery when they were reminded of people with whom they had strong relationships.” Percy loves his mother: “Her name is Sally Jackson, and she’s the best person in the world.” a better connection with his mother would boost his happiness tenfold. This would result in a happier, calm, healthy, Percy, which is a lot better than his old self.

Percy is still attempting to fix his problems, and getting better at maintaining his emotions, and making better decisions, meeting more friends along the way. He later becomes a better person in the book, when he comes to half-blood hill. Percy’s attitude can be improved, and he is working on how to do it.

Activism Active

Blurb

“ The activist, is not the man who says the river is dirty. The activist, is the man who cleans up the river. “

-Ross Perot

Alex Lin was just an ordinary 9 year old, going to school, playing with friends. Though until he met a wall street journal article, his life has changed. He devoted his life to recycling E-waste, and convened his friends to join his cause, his rally, his ACTIVISM. He, just a 9 year old, but with a courageous heart, persevered, and gained the respect of all activists, and is now a famous activist for E-waste.                          Activism Active

Precious Plastics

I will create a plastic pencil dispenser, along with a electric pencil sharpener, eraser holder, and paper box. At home, i build cardboard machines that work and help in our daily needs. (example: my cereal dispenser.) I enjoy building things with USE. with this, it won’t be required to go to a store and buy a expensive steel pencil sharpener and such, when i recycled a thing with no use, and get to keep it for free. If it can be done with cardboard, it can be with plastic.

Operation Insulation

This is my ceramic cup, that I customized to prevent heat loss.  I am proud of my creation, as it only lost 3 Celsius in the last five minutes. I covered up the nooks and cranny’s to keep thermal energy within the cup. This cup is a powerful insulator. A flaw in my cup is its ugliness, and color tone. I would change the gray foam into a jet black felt/foam padding, to absorb radiation from its surroundings, . The hardest thing was the attachments. My cup contained so many layers, Combining each layer, overlapping,  and too, covering all the holes that heat could leak through. My Conduction design is sort of like a recycling system.  If any heat is released from its bounds, it is suctioned into a metal coating. When convection is working, my mechanism reflects thermal energy back into the cup, or rather, into my aluminum edges. The edges make the heat revolve around the cup, reentering it, and heats it up again. If radiation comes, the foam is warmed, and then transferred into the cup by the metal accessories.  A major skill I learned in this unit is how to forge, how to create something that seems to be able to reach the shops.
