Fighting for Tierra Y Libertad

As Antonio’s father died when he was three years old, he was brought up by his mother and his brother. Antonio was a young teenage boy who lived in a poor family, they couldn’t eat three meals a day. After growing up, Antonio becomes a Potato farmer but in 1910 as the peasants in Mexico began a rebellion against Diaz, he joined the army too.

In Conclusion, I believe the revolution was worth it. Firstly, the revolution’s point can be concluded with two words, Liberty and Land Reform. The revolution was for freedom of the Mexicans from Diaz, a dictator who focused on helping rich people getting richer, rather than helping peasants. But what Diaz doesn’t know is, Over 90% of the country are Peasants. Therefore, there was a rebellion led by Madero that happened in 1910. The second was land reform for the peasants. Land reform were the land that was originally from Peasants. Down below is my Microsoft Sway of my journal it talks about a life of a Mexican during the Mexico Revolution. After Obregon taking over Mexican, Mexico finally begins to go on the right path. Obregon promoted public education and industrial growth. The peasants also got their land back, isn’t that what the revolution was for?

10 Days a Mad Woman Nellie Bly A Woman Journalist

I would like to introduce the story “10 Days a Mad Woman” It was written by Deborah Noyes.  I believe the theme and ideas were reflects how the society treats women and mentally ill patients. How the hospitals treated patients with horrific treatments and how woman journalists were treated differently.

10 DAYS A MADWOMAN

This book was published by Deborah Noyes on February 23rd 2016. It introduces about a women named Nellie Bly. Nellie Bly had goals of becoming a women journalist, there were only few female journalists at the time. But Nellie Bly from Pittsburgh, knew she was going to pull a major news that will skyrocket her to fame: She pretended to be Insane and was sent to Blackwell’s island, there were torture and horrific treatment towards the patients in the hospital and she doesn’t know what was waiting for her…Nellie managed to escape after and exposed their shocking treatments and it made her even more famous.Nellie then circled the globe in a record seventy-two days and brought home a pet monkey. She then married a millionaire and ran his company after his husband died

As i read through the book i found some central ideas in the book. Firstly, the society treats people differently because of their sex, their race or who they are, such as sexually and their personality. It is shown in some quotes below i showed in my evidence. Secondly, the society treats mentally ill patients differently, and i believed the government could’ve took more attention on those hospitals.

The following brainstorm is a complex version of my first central idea, How the society treats people differently because of there sex, their race or who they are. Women face discrimination because people often have a tradition view, they believe that they should stay at home doing chores and takes care of the kids, and when women comes out to work, they believe they can’t doing anything better than men only because of their gender.

The next brainstorm is about my second central idea, How mentally ill patients were treated differently. from the quotes in the book such as “an insane place you’ll never get out.” Even if you’re cured, they wouldn’t let you out. The reason might be they didn’t want people to know how they treated the patients. The government could’ve payed much more attention to those hospitals. If they did, there is a high chance that the patients won’t be receiving horrific treatments.

In conclusion,  “Ten Days a Madwoman” is a story about a female reporter facing discrimination even in big cities like New York. The main themes were sexism and terrible treatment to the mentally ill patients. Overall I  recommend this book to people who has the same age as me of higher. It not only a book about the success of Nellie Bly exposing the hospital and how she overcame discrimination of women. With 10 as the highest score, it would be a 7-8.
