Back at the beginning of the unit, I had no idea what sewing was. I haven’t tried sewing in my whole life and so this unit was totally new for me. For my initials, I had lots of questions and concerns, but it was hard for me to do that because it was online. Asking questions to Ms. Kim was hard because of technical difficulties and just everything, but I got to develop lots of skills during this period by doing everything independently. Ms. Kim gave us lots of time for us to practice because she also knew that it is hard for us to do everything in hard circumstances.
For my first project, I had a hard time choosing and making things I wanted to make. Because it was online, we all knew that we had to be very specific in our plans. Throughout this project, I really learned the skill of helping the teacher know what my plan was. For the second plan, I learned that drawing the model with the actual sizes of components was because it helped me finish my project quickly. The plan is a crucial stage of the project and that is what I learned throughout his unit. At the beginning process of making the plan, my ideas were not as good, and not easy for teachers to follow, but thanks to Ms. Kim’s support and help I was able to develop skills that makes a great plan which led to a good result.
During this unit, I improved a lot. From the initial model, it was hard for me to even thread a needle and do a running stitch. However, as I practiced and did many of them, I was able to even add components to my project. Lastly, I was able to hide my stitches which made the design look better and can control my design.
