This is the “Found Poem” that I made from the story LATHER AND NOTHING ELSE by Hernando Télle.
Through the plot of the entire article, I can clearly see that the conflict in the story is caused by the protagonist: the barber and the captain Torres. This is an internal conflict, due to Barber’s own internal entanglement, that made the decision and lead to an internal conflict. For evidence, quote:”Confound the hour he entered my shop! I am a revolutionary but not a murderer. And it would be so easy to kill him. He deserves it. Or does he? No, damn it! No one deserves the sacrifice others make in becoming assassins. What is to be gained by it? Nothing.” (pg.45). A revolutionary but not a murderer, or he deserves it? From these two examples, I could now clearly understand the conflict and the decides in barber’s mind. Quote: “And others would say, “The avenger of our people. A name to remember”—my name here. “He was the town barber. No one knew he was fighting for our cause.””(pg.47) The barber now imagining when he kills captain Torres and so something good will happen, but then, he finally ask himself what is the choice? Quote:”And so, which will it be? Murderer or hero?” From the start to now, it’s always the barber’s thought inside about the decision and what is kind of the “better choice” to end this. Through out all these explanation and evidences, it clearly and accurately shows that this is an internal conflict.
