"I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious" - Albert Einstein

Cuban Revolution Journal

My protagonist is born in a wealthy family, her name is Elsie Pablo. She was born to be sick, her health wasn’t good enough to support her dream of becoming a reporter. She love freedom, she is justice and positive, her biggest dream is to make the history objective and realistic. History is always blinded by perspectives and bias, and to know truth of history is to read the different perspective and combine them to become realistic, but it still appears to be probabilities. The protagonist have not been allowed to keep in contact with this revolution, the risk is too high. After all, because of her families political relationship with the new government, the need to leave the country.

The revolution benefit the country more than it disadvantages it. The revolution made a really big influence to Cuba, the politics order changes in a quick speed. After Castro taken away power the difference between poor and rich became smaller. Castro had established the Agrarian law, which started Healthcare, education it increases in 100% , no more private farming. There is two perspectives: the poor people have more assure in their lives, they got healthcare, education, and more income. But in the wealthy people’s perspective, their property had less assure and need to give a higher taxes. However, the revolution had a good start, and the benefit the revolution takes is larger than the disadvantage it brings.

Cuban Revolution

Before the revolution Cuban resident have a miserable life, they have bad healthcare most people can’t get good healthcare which most of the residents die by small fever. Most percentile of the residents can’t get educated.  The difference between upper class and the lower classes is a big problem, but most people were poor. Also, Cuban peasants are usually the local residents, and the European are the wealthy people. So, they start a revolution.

Flowers in the Gutter

“Flower in the Gutter” by K. R. Gabby, this book is the true story of the Edelweiss Pirates teenagers who resisted the Nazis. I recommend this book to people who want to learn the true story of World War 2. This book was about three teenagers-Fritz, Gertrud, and Jean-they were different, but they are similar on fighting against the evil. They were Germans living under Hitler’s control, and in any time they might get aressted or killed. As children, they saw their parent taken away, and the toy store on the street getting robbed. Their parent were all heros that fight agianst Nazis in the street, and when they gorw up they became their parents.

This is my central idea page, in this page I recorded central ideas, themes, and social issue in this book. Mostly about Nazis treating badly to the Gremans and how teenager should fight back for theirselves.

The central ideas, themes and social issue is hard to find, because this book mostly non-fiction, but for the whole book it is mostly talking about how Fritz, Geruds, and Jean survive through the whole book. They need to survive from the bombs and also from Hitler, Jean saw his friends killed infront of him, war used to be countries to countries but in World War 2 it is the whole world against Nazis.

In this lesson, I was researching about the Nazis, and Ms. E told me about the Nazis party and find a website talking about it, it recorded the number of people killed. I immediately think of this page where it talks about Jean thinking he will die soon. I wanted to quote the sentence, “You’ll be under grass soon!” but when I read clearly through the whole page I found that the whole page can be related to the Nazis Party since both were talking about Nazis killing people.

This page is for rereading the part that you feel confusing or seems to be related to central idea or parts seems to be connecting to earlier parts. I write the sentene down and give some explaination for it.

This is the page when we are learning cuase and effect. A sentence to explain the cause and effects. And a mind map to show the cause and effects when they are on the train trying to escpae form Germany.

Found poem Sakakabansi

The concept of the poem is about internal conflict Person vs. Self. In the story, Lather and nothing else is telling the protagonist’s thoughts of killing the man or not. In the story, the antagonist goes to the Barber’s shop and asks to shave his beard. The protagonist has a lot of pressure from having his enemy in his shop, he described that he could easily slit his throat and got a lot of chances to kill his enemy who was sitting in front of him, but he hesitated, according to the text, “And so, which will be it? Murderer or hero? My fate hangs on the edge of this razor blade. I can turn my wrist slightly, put a bit more pressure on the blade, let it sink in.” but in the next paragraph the barber started to change his mind, “But I don’t want to be a murderer.” He was hesitating until he had finished the shaving for his enemy. In my poem, it starts with some words connecting to the main story, and when the sentences started, I was showing the hesitation of the protagonist. The poem is from the barber’s perspective of whether to kill his enemy or not. In the end, I contain the last sentence of the man talking to the barber to make the readers understand what is going on in the poem. I use paper to cover the other words and the Papercraft is showing the lather.
