1.Explain How your own images link to your chosen artist’s images.
These photographs used different techniques that Henri Cartier-Bresson used in his photographs. for example, He normally takes photographs that are unintentional and unstaged shots. I also used this technique, most of the people that I was photographing had no idea that they were being taken advantage of and this led to more authentic and realistic shots. This also connects to my statement of intent in which I stated that I wanted to explore the human condition. The unstaged photographs helped show the human condition more effectively and gave the photographs a sense of realism.
3.Why did you put them in that particular order?
i put them in this order because it separates the photographs into people working and people not working. This let the viewer organise their thought and better understand what I am trying to portray. The photographs of people not working are more light hearted and the poeple in them look like their relaxed. The photographs of people doing the job are more sadder. the separation of the two types of photographs helps preserve the atmosphere which they create.
4.What are the overall strengths of these images
I think I successfully captured the occupation of the people in my photographs. This directly connects to my statement of intent because I successfully showed the human condition in most of my photographs.
5.what skills have you developed and how applied them?
I think that my photographs have good composition in them. They all have clear subject and I think I use negative space well to divert the viewers attention to the main subject. I had to crop some photographs because there were more distracting elements that took away from the photograph.
6.How have you developed as a photographer – What did you learn from your previous tasks
I have developed as a photographer because I have developed an eye that can look around and find something interesting to photograph. before I had a mindset in which I should only take a photo if something spectacular happens. now I realise that even the simplelist things can be photographed and appreciated.
7.Something that works well about this/these images is…
something that works well in these images is that they all have a unique outlook on life. Some are sadder and more melancholy, while others are more happier and relaxed. This large variety of images connects to my statement of intent because it provides different examples of the human condition.
8.Something I need to develop further is…
something that I need to develop further is lighting. Some of the photographs have one tone of lighting that affect it in a negative way. this undermines the photograph. Next time I will try to look for better places where different types of lighting are more prominent to camp and wait for pedestrians to stumble across.
9.What are you looking for in your nest set of images?
Instead of finding people to photograph I will camp at a really interesting place and wait for people to come to me.
10.What would you do differently next time? How would the photo improve as a result?
I would try to incorporate more facial expressions and others features of the face. while my photographs show many buildings and other architecture this sometimes undermines the subject making them seem more in teh background and not the main focus of the photograph.
