Endangered Species: End of a Era

For this video I wanted to spread awareness about this issue and how it is affecting the earth and people and that                    these animals are going extinct because of human activity such as overhunting/poaching, habitat loss/deforestation, climate change, and pollution.

Sacrifices Need To Be Made

My name is Arlo Martinez, I am a 28 year old female who works as a loyal guard for Batista, I live in Cuba and have experienced the Cuban Revolution. Please read my journal.

Change & Continuity:

During the Cuban revolution two changes I found in the Cuban Revolution are more health care and education. Back when Batista was in power there wasn’t great education nor health care, but as Castro came along and went in power, he changed it, and he made education and healthcare better than what it was before. One more change I found was about the people, as Castro continued the revolution any people started to see it in a unique perspective and came to believe that Castro was doing this revolution for good. However, there were some things that still stayed the same. Two of those continuity’s were that they kept trading with sugar not as much as before but they didn’t completely stop trading with sugar instead trading sugar and other crops, another continuity I found was that they stayed in a stable ally with the Soviet Union. Even if they had some rocky days with their relationship, they still managed to have a decent ally with each other helping each other so that Castro’s revolution would succeed.

Crossfire

The Cuban Revolution started in 1953-1959, the series of events above show some of these important timelines of how Fidel Castro changed Cuba by rebelling against Batista. The video above explains how Castro was able to complete this difficult task only by gathering other people in Cuba who also wanted to change Cuba for the better. They had to face many difficult challenges  to complete what Castro had envisioned, but after a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in the end it was hopefully worth it to make Cuba a better place for everyone.

The book I am reading is Lost in the Antarctic by Tod Olson.

Lost in the Antarctic shows not only the struggle of tough terrain but the strength of leadership and hard work. The book takes place in a ship which was called the Endurance, they were on an expedition to go through the Antarctic for research, but things don’t go as planned as the rough terrain had other plans for them. Ernest Shackleton is the leader of 28 men on the expedition, as the book goes on you will see that Ernest Shackleton will show great leadership despite how tough the journey gets. Shackleton tries his best not to let any of his crew-mates loose hope as their journey gets tougher everyday. This book shows leadership, hard-work, teamwork, and many more.

The page above is about how Shackleton and his crew got rescued after almost 2 years stuck in the freezing cold terrain the central idea i came up with was “they got rescued”, I am proud of this page because I based this off of one central idea I thought was important.

This page shows a pressure map about Ernest Shackleton and a couple of central ideas, I’m proud of this page because I think the pressure map really focused on Shackleton which is one of the main characters in this book also since he is the leader and shows all the pressures he is facing during their journey.

This page shows an argument between two characters and a claim with evidence, I’m proud of this page because I think it shows depth in how Shackleton and the rest of his crew were dealing with when they got stuck in the Antarctic.

This page I wrote about central ideas, themes, and social ideas which you can see above, I’m proud of this page because it shows not one idea but multiple on one page also using page numbers.

“Deadly Lather”

The found poem was found on page 4 of the novel “Lather and Nothing Else” By: Hernando Tellez. The Conflict of the story is Man Vs Man, The Protagonist is the Barber and The Antagonist is Captain Torres. The conflict of this story is important because the Protagonist, the Barber, was having an internal struggle between wanting to murder Captain Torres or not, each decision had its consequences, and the Barber was going back and forth between whenever to murder him or not, while shaving the man’s beard, but before Captain Torres left, he came to find out if the Barber would kill him or not. And hopefully the Barber know knows to watch his back.
