In the following three journals, my character will be presenting the Cuban Revolution in his perspective. The character’s name is Fernando, and has an older brother named Rodrygo. In their childhood, they lived in poverty where they had to endure the hunger everyday. The start point of Fernando experiencing the events in the Cuban Revolution is due to his shift of job from a peasant to a soldier. There are many changes in Cuba, and Fernando. Fernando once believed any changes in Cuba would make Cuba a better country, but in the end, he doubts his initial notions, and wants no changes. Through my character’s perspective, we can see that “the revolution is a dictatorship of the exploited against the exploiters.”
The Cuban Revolution was a series of rebels against Batista’s government led by Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. Although they had some experiences of failure, through the rebel victories, the M-26-7 (rebel group created by Fidel and Che) was able to attain their goal to overthrow Batista, and make a new government. There were changes that were successful, such as the health care system, and the education, but some changes had negative effects on Cuba. It was lucid that the change of government was successful, but the dictatorship stayed the same in Cuba, for both Batista and Fidel Castro were dictator themselves.
