Eddie’s Journal

This journal was written by Eddie. This journal is about his experience during the American Revolution. Eddie starts as a 18 year old man and also in the part of the Sons of Liberty. He wants Independence and freedom. This journal is fake, but all the events that happened in the journal are 100% real. It includes the Stamp Act, Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, and more. The American Revolution was caused by grievances over taxation without representation, violations of colonial rights, and restrictive British policies. These factors, combined with Enlightenment ideals and incidents of unrest, fueled a desire for independence and ultimately led to the revolutionary movement.

This video gives us the summary and the different events of the American Revolution that we studied. This video talks about the Stamp Act, Boston Tea Party, the Declaration of Independence, the Battle of Yorktown, and the Treaty of Paris. The American Revolution was caused by issues like unfair taxes, lack of representation, and restrictions on trade imposed by the British government. The colonists felt their rights were being violated, leading to protests and resistance. They desired independence and the ability to govern themselves. The slogan “no taxation without representation” reflected their frustration. These grievances and a desire for liberty fueled the revolution, as the colonists fought for their freedom and established the United States as an independent nation.

Lost in the Antarctic Notebook Page

Lost in Antarctic: The Doomed Voyage of the Endurance by Tod Olson is a non fiction book that tells the true story of the ill-fated expedition of Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew on the ship Endurance in 1914. The book follows the incredible journey of the crew as they become stranded in the harsh and unforgiving Antarctic wilderness after their ship gets trapped in ice. Because the ship was trapped, the crew have to walk back home. When they were walking back, they faced many problems. For example, lack of food and other supply.

⬇️Here are some notes I took while reading this book.⬇️

The central Idea I found in the book was “Nothing is more important compared to human life.” I wrote down some evidence to support the central idea below.

I also wrote a CER notebook page for the town hall debate.

I also wrote the cause in the book and wrote the effects that supports the cause. The effects are all the evidences I found in the book.

Lastly, I reread the book because I still had some parts that were confused. And when I finish rereading, I wrote a piece of evidence that I was confused about and below that, I wrote how it further demonstrates the central idea.

Conclusion: I recommend you read this book because it tells lots of stuff about the world and I think this is a very fun and very cool book.

The Bloody Razor

My short poem is from the short story “Lather and Nothing Else” by the author Hernando Tellez. The protagonist is the Barber and the antagonist is Captain Torres. In this story, there is an internal conflict within our protagonist. The barber in the story, our protagonist, sees Captain Torres, the antagonist, going in the barber shop. The protagonist is debating if he should kill that person. The internal conflict is as follows: If the barber kills him, he will be a hero, but at the same time, he will become a murderer himself. It is an internal conflict because it’s debate that happens in the mind of our protagonist. So it is a Person vs. self conflict. My poem shows the concept because I highlight the words that tell the conflict. I have highlighted the words: kill, blood, murderer or hero,  pistol, and What a cowardly thing to do. These words  from the poem I have created all show the the internal conflict I describe above, a conflict about killing or not killing within our protagonist. My artwork can support my poem because the color of the artwork is mostly red, which is the same color as blood. It is blood that connects to the conflict. Finally, I drew a shaving razor knife because the barber is shaving Captain Torres’s beard. and I also drew a star and wrote hero on it because the barber thinks that maybe he will become a hero if he kills Captain Torres.
