The Bloody Razor

My short poem is from the short story “Lather and Nothing Else” by the author Hernando Tellez. The protagonist is the Barber and the antagonist is Captain Torres. In this story, there is an internal conflict within our protagonist. The barber in the story, our protagonist, sees Captain Torres, the antagonist, going in the barber shop. The protagonist is debating if he should kill that person. The internal conflict is as follows: If the barber kills him, he will be a hero, but at the same time, he will become a murderer himself. It is an internal conflict because it’s debate that happens in the mind of our protagonist. So it is a Person vs. self conflict. My poem shows the concept because I highlight the words that tell the conflict. I have highlighted the words: kill, blood, murderer or hero,  pistol, and What a cowardly thing to do. These words  from the poem I have created all show the the internal conflict I describe above, a conflict about killing or not killing within our protagonist. My artwork can support my poem because the color of the artwork is mostly red, which is the same color as blood. It is blood that connects to the conflict. Finally, I drew a shaving razor knife because the barber is shaving Captain Torres’s beard. and I also drew a star and wrote hero on it because the barber thinks that maybe he will become a hero if he kills Captain Torres.

Welcome to Your New Blog!

When you blog you create posts and posts are categorised according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you. If you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category.
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This can include text, images, embedded videos from Dragons’ Tube or elsewhere. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
