Mexican Revolution Historical Fiction Novel

In the 1900s in Mexico, people feared a terrible dictator named Porfirio Diaz; their labor was all taken, and they barely had enough money to support their living. Finally, one day Diaz angered every Mexican when he brought himself back onto the political stage after being kicked out, a flame of revolution went wild in the land of Mexico. A young man named Francisco Madero first pulled off the trigger, and then rulers like Victoriano Huerta, Carranza, and Pancho Villa walked onto the stage, setting off a 10-year war in Mexico…

Commoncraft Video— Mexican Revolution

The Mexican Revolution was a very interesting period of time when citizens (both men and women) fought for their freedom against dictators who sought power. The revolution lasted for more than 7 years, and a million lives were buried in those tragic years. Some heroes wanted to save Mexico, such as Carranza and Madero, and villains who wanted infinite power, such as Huerta and Diaz. It is one of the most fascinating revolutions to see people fighting for themselves with betrayal, love, and hate. In this video, we will briefly introduce the audience to the legendary Mexico in the 1910s.

Steven Summative Lizzie Borden

This page includes the second Description page and the second Connecting Idea. It explains how a folktale shows long-term bias, and how different ideas connect together to form the second central idea of ‘bias is more liked by people than truth itself’.

This page talks about how a detailed description of the dead bodies can show people’s unfair bias, and how unfair bias led to the central idea that ‘bias is a powerful thing that happens everywhere’.

This page connects the idea of rumors, judgments, and murders as how they connect together to form the central idea.

This page gives the second central idea of ‘People rather bias than truth’, and adds multiple pieces of evidence to support the idea.

This page explains the time when I researched and re-read my book. I have found pieces of evidence that can support my first claim from using these techniques and it connects to the idea ‘bias is a powerful thing’.

This page gives the first central idea of ‘bias is a very powerful thing that lasts very long’ and I used this claim as my Debate Prep as well.  I also put evidence to support this claim.

The Borden Murders by Sarah Miller is a book about discovering the case of Lizzie Borden. It follows the procedure of the event, from the event to the final judgment, pulling the reader into the case itself.

The story first introduced readers to the scene of the case, giving a detailed description of the dead parents. Then, the story continued following Lizzie Borden’s perspective of how the investigation happened until she was put into jail, and thats when the interesting trial starts…

In the story I have found two main central ideas. The first one is “Bias is a powerful thing that lasts very long”, and the second one is “People rather bias than truth itself” as I put notebook pages to show my thinking.

Humanism: Are you a Humanist

Humanism:Are You a Humanist

Have you ever wandered what will you become when you go back in time? Have you ever wandered what is the main belief of Renaissance? If you had, then how much do you agree with it? Click in this poster, and it will explain to you all about the main ideas of Humanism and how much do you support it. Maybe you will find yourself as an absolute humanist who believe in art and freedom, or you might be someone who is not so interested in expressing emotions and likes to have a powerful monarch structure in your country. Go find out yourself

It is not easy to kill

The avenger, the town barber, no one knew, which will it be?

My fate on the blade, I cannot fail.

I want to be a murderer, no, I am just a barber.

Job, thats it, job. I must shave.

It is not easy to kill.

My found poem is from the story 《Lather and Nothing Else》by Hernando Tellez.

The conflict in 《Lather and Nothing Else》is a Self-versus-Self conflict. The main character struggles between his thoughts and he is not sure if he should shave for Captain Torres as the role of a barber or should he murder Captain Torres as being the avenger.

The first line of the poem is quite straight forward and it shows the main character’s struggle where he is thinking whether he should stay as a regular  town barber and shave for Torres or should he secretly murder him and become the avenger. The second line metaphorically  shows that his fate can be different from one act with the razor blade he is holding, and it is a choice that matters life and death. The third line shows his final choice, and he decided to shave for Torres properly as the best barber in town while the fourth line concludes the moral of the story. It is not easy to kill.

My abstract drawing includes two thoughts of death and good shaved, a razor knife and the main character’s brain. The obvious part, which is the brain, shows that the story presents internal conflicts. The second part is the symbol (the razor blade) and the choice that he can  make.

If I did this again, one thing that I would change is to make this prettier. I would add some color paper and decorate the field so that when people come, they can think that this is fun to play and not ugly.

Overall, I think that our project is a success because we made a brand new idea, and every child in grade 4 liked it. Even the teacher thought that this is a special project. P.s. I also liked it very much.

My biggest obstacle is to connect the magnets. The cardboard is thick and can connect a lot, so we designed a higher layer to let it connect
