The process to making my lamp

I have always wanted to make a lamp that will be able to have heavy items stacked on. When I heard that we were going to have an option to make a lamp, I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted a cube lamp that was 18cm in length and 18cm in height.

As soon as I got my plan approved I started to design some prototypes on fusion. Everything was smooth sailing until I arrived at fingers. I struggled to get the fingers to match up when the cardboard prototype have been assembled. Sometimes the fingers wouldn’t match or the size of the board wasn’t right. So, I decided to use a new way of drawing fingers and when my 3rd cardboard prototype arrived, it worked. The design on each panels went well except for the time when the premier league (the lion) logo have been cut completely just leaving a gaping hole. Thankfully, I was able to quick adjust the logo and everything was fine. After some minor edits on the prototype, my final version was ready and i printed out the wooded version. I put the file into lifeburn and instructed the laser cut to cut it or leave it.Then, I used some see through paper to slightly dim the lights and it ended up looking pretty good, With some permanent markers, I added some vibrant markers on the wood and now, I have completed my project and it turned out better than expected.

If I went back in time and needed to start the process all over again, I wish I used the trace feature so my designs would have looked identical to the original logos.

A new path to liberty

For Diego Sancho, life of hard labour and sleepless nights of hunger was a common everyday thing he was a poor peasant living by farming the land he didn’t even own. His not so great life was the lives of the majority of Mexican citizens who lived a life of poverty. Im dumb. When Diego was reaching the age of 30, a spark of hatred ignited by Porfio Diaz, who was the country dictator had led the whole country to revolt and our main character Diego is caught up in middle of all this drama. In his journal, we will see how Diego develops as the revolution goes on.

The question we are all waiting for. Was the revolution worth it? In my opinion, yes. The revolution was quite simply worth it. Before the revolution, the people of Mexico were subjected to endless hard labour on a daily basis and were all sleeping hungry while a few slim margin of people were enjoying wealth beyond what you can imagine. Although the revolution has costed countless lives and property damage, it helped Mexico be a more stable and well run country making Mexico the proud and independent country it is now. It also influence the world that justice will be served to a dictator and inspired several other revolution to follow suite.

“Land and Liberty!” Mexican Revolution

The Mexican revolution is a truly unique revolution. Most revolution aims to eliminate one person or ground group of people, but the Mexican revolution is a lot more complicated than that. During the span of 10 years, there were 5 presidents in charge and 4 ended up dead. The revolution was led by several key figures, such as  Zapata, Francisco Villa, and Carranza. These three leaders led different factions with different goals, but all shared a desire to improve the lives of the Mexican people. The revolution was packed with significant violence and bloodshed, with numerous battle taking place throughout the country. Eventually when Carranza took charge, the revolution faded out and peace was brought back to Mexico once again. , resulting in significant political and social changes in Mexico.  The Mexican Revolution had a significant impact on Mexican society, including the redistribution of land, the establishment of labor rights, and more.

Trapped Surving 2000 feet below the Chilean Desert

Trapped is a book written by Marc Aronson. In August 2010, the unbearable happened when a mine collapsed in  Chile, trapping thirty-three miners 2,000 feet below the surface of the Chilean desert. For  around 2 and a half months, they lived on meager rations with the air quality worsening at the day crawls by. When they were finally rescued, the world watched the amazing determination and spirit of the miners. What would have been a terrible tragedy became an amazing story of hope and survival.

In the book Trapped, the theme”Hope” plays a massive role in the camp where the families live, the engineers and experts trying to rescue the miners, and the miners themselves.

As I read the book, I noticed that a one of the central idea is that difficult times brings people together. There were lots of stories of the families of those miners that have been closer after the disaster happened. Some of the examples being one of the miners marrying right after he got out of the mine and the miners taking a look at themselves and deciding to be a better husband and a better father and a better person.

In Trapped, the author mainly tells us the backstory behind the rescue. By telling us the psychological, physical, and environmental factors surrounding the mission, the author highlights the amazing technology and helping hands that made it all possible. From Pele and Maradona that helped to raise morale, to NASA and their experts coming up with a plan, there was an abundance of people and groups that tries to help the miners and their families in their own ways.

Mary and the Lamb

Mary and the LAMB

The story that I wrote the poem about was “The lamb to the slaughter” written by Roahl Dahl. The story is about a protagonist Mary and the Antagonist husband who is oddly quiet one day and he tells her that he will be leaving her. It’s a person versus person conflict since she is shocked and maddened by her husbands sudden announcement, she grabbed a frozen lamb leg from the freezer without feeling and in the story, it clearly states  “simply walked up behind him and without any pause she swung the big frozen leg of lamb high in the air and brought it down as hard as she could on the back of his head” which shows that she hit him and “All right, she told herself. So I’ve killed him” which shows that she killed him.

I found that my poem describes the main conflict of Mary murdering her husband by only choosing powerful and impactful words such as “leg of lamb” and “killed him”

For the art, I used a red pen to cover all most of the other words and put a darkish red slab to imply the blood all spilling down to fill a portion of the page. I instead a picture of a frozen lamb leg and put it behind the texts to imply that that is the hidden weapon for the murder and outlined it with black to make it stand out a bit more.
