My Biggest Regret

This journal is a reflective diary written by Agueda Fernandez (1912-1963). Agueda was once an enthusiastic Castro supporter who sought to rebel against Fulgencio Batista. However, things took a turn when Castro’s Cuba didn’t turn out to be gold. Agueda realizes his mistake and can never find the heart to forgive his decisions. Will Agueda finally let go? Or will he do the unexpected…

The Ongoing Crisis

Revolutions are directed at change whether it is economic change, technological change, political change, or social change. It usually starts when society has failed or no longer served their purpose in their position. People are forced to a point of revolution as they think non-armed movements are  inefficient.  Not only does revolutions reach one goal but rather many goals measured based on the impact it leaves and the applications and implications it has for the future. Revolutions overthrow the established order as revolutions make people noticeable, no longer suffering in the dark. This is such case that started the Cuban Revolution…

It all started when Fidel Castro led a group of rebels in the beginning, and it culminated in the overthrow of the Fulgencio Batista government in 1959. There were many reasons to why the revolution occurred. The main ones include political, economic, and social factors, such as extreme poverty, inequality, and foreign powers’ exploitation of Cuba’s resources (mostly the U.S.) and the difference between the upper classes of Cuba and the lower classes. Batista’s regime, which persecuted numerous opposition groups and refused to grant citizens their justifiable freedom of speech, was a significant catalyst as well. Castro and the revolutionaries aimed to establish a society that was more just and egalitarian. This leads to the big, debatable question: Did the revolution benefit Cuba or did it cause it even more harm?

Watch our “Cuban Revolution in Plain English Video” to learn about the Cuban Revolution and decide if you think the revolution benefited Cuba.

Making this common craft video was an amazing journey for my friend Zoey and I.  We chose to draw everything by hand, which did get a little chaotic, but it was still very fun. We tried to make the video entertaining and informational for everyone to see. Although there were many challenges (such as losing our drawings), we still collaborated effectively. Zoey and I decided to record using Voice Memo, and then make a video of the drawing movements separately (then we pieced the together using Imovie)

Special thanks to Zoey for making the last credits bit of the video!

Laser Cut Project

About this unit:

This unit is all about Laser cutting. We got to choose between designing a locker phone holder, or a LED Lamp as we didn’t have time to do both. Our class got introduced to Fusion 360, a useful program that helps with designing for laser cutting. We set up our entire project on Fusion, and then used Light-burn, a program that helps laser cut. After we got our laser cut pieces, we used wood glue to glue them together and got to choose between how we wanted to coat it (staining, acrylic, markers, etc).

Ideas into Design Concepts:

When I just started this unit, the initial plan was to create a locker phone holder and then create a LED Lamp, but due to online learning and other challenges, we weren’t able to do both, so we had to choose one. In my class, we first looked up existing phone holders to get ideas for the kind of holders we wanted to construct. This image displays some of my research and the sources that I used to generate my initial design ideas.

My initial phone holder shape research designs

With that, we practiced isometric drawing, which was really difficult at first, but with further practice, I gradually got the hang of it. The isometric drawings I’ve done are in this image. Then, my class drew three designs for our locker phone holder using the isometric drawing approach, and gave each other some feedback (There won’t be a photo for this one as I don’t have the paper with me). I first wanted to add more boxes to the phone holder so that it could hold more items, but I later discovered that you can’t have anything in front of the phone holder since the magnet is insufficiently strong and there won’t be any room for the designs I want to laser cut on. So, I included a few places to put other things at the sides of the phone holder. After that, I made a mood board with potential designs for my phone holder. I just incorporated all the ideas I liked and felt would look good carved on wood because I didn’t really have a theme yet. The following picture is my mood board. We also had to measure our phone to see how big our phone holder                                                                                                                                                                                  Mood board for Phone Holder (1st)

would be. Unfortunately, the advent of online learning significantly reduced this project’s efficiency. We came to the conclusion that there wouldn’t be enough time to complete two projects, so we filled out a form to select just one. I selected the LED lamp. Based on my favorites from the last mood board, I made a new one with a theme this time. I chose nature as my theme because I find it to be peaceful and since there are numerous ways to design it. Here is a photo of my most recent mood board:

Mood Board for LED Lamp (2nd)

It was a difficult decision to eliminate some of my designs. But I eliminated the wave and bird design after taking into account their complexity and compatibility. I initially wanted to do the tree design and the moon design, but I realized that these two doesn’t match and I didn’t want to end up with a lamp that feels not organized. The leaf and tree design can represent a leaf falling from a tree, thus I quickly made the decision to utilize it.

My LED lamp is light green for the leaves and dark green for the tree design. I would say that I would make the light green color a little bit darker if I were to do this again. I blended white and dark green to create a more complementary color because there wasn’t any light green paint that I wanted to use, but I should have added more dark green. I’ll definitely do better at this the next time. In addition, I would not use acrylic paint next time (staining would be better). Even after the acrylic paint had dried, it was still a little sticky, and some dust/little objects got stuck to it, so I had to scrape them off. The paint also made it tougher to join the pieces together because there was some dried paint on the sides (I also had to scrape that off). Apart from that, I don’t regret using acrylic paint because the colors may represent nature, and I enjoy watching each brush stroke.

I choose to utilize a color-changing light bulb since I believe the color of it can significantly alter the ambiance of my entire space (photo not yet available due to light bulb’s delayed arrival). I can choose different colors, and in my perspective, having more alternatives is preferable to having less possibilities.

This is how all the ideas I had in November developed into the layouts I used for my finished project. The following image shows my finalized design:

Growth in Skills:

Throughout this course, I definitely learned a lot about Fusion 360. I struggled at first to apply the fundamentals, but as I continued, I picked up more and more information until I finally understood it. When my class first learned about fusion, we viewed a number of instructional videos to understand how to use the basic tools that would be required. These tools include cutting, trimming, making shapes symmetrical, and creating various shapes. We tried a lot and produced a lot of small sketches; you can see a few of mine in that picture.

We eventually found our designs, and I learned how to import them into Fusion so I could create a sketch of the identical design using the tracing tool. This tool was really easy to use and was quite helpful. The image below shows how my design appeared after being traced. But once I was done sketching, I had a lot of difficulties moving and scaling it, and I really needed a lot of assistance. There are many other ways to scale and move an object, but for me, moving an object is the simplest when I pick the entire thing and press “m.” My teacher guided me through a procedure for scaling, and it was incredibly beneficial. My teacher taught my class how to utilize Makercase, a very helpful website that makes making the fingers for the boxes more simpler. I learned how to combine these sketches into one and put them together so they could be loaded into Lightburn (an app used to laser cut). Here are a few images of my completed designs.

After seeing a video my teacher made on DX, I learned how to use Lightburn when my Fusion sketch was ready to be laser cut. I imported my design from fusion onto Light-burn. Red is for cutting, black is for etching, and blue is for coloring in.

Online learning was one of my biggest challenges. The hardest part of this class was learning about Fusion through online instruction. I had to share my screen every time I asked a question and follow to my teacher’s directions. In class, my teacher could simply show me how to do it; however, if it were online, she would have to direct me as to where to click, which reduced the effectiveness. In addition, I could ask a friend for assistance in school. But during online learning, I had to ask my teacher even the most basic questions. Everyone was asking the teacher a lot of questions that another student could easily answer, which increases the teacher’s workload and everyone had to wait while their questions were being addressed. Another challenge I encountered was when Fusion took up a lot of space on my laptop and frequently crashed. I waste a lot of time closing Fusion, restarting my laptop, and opening it again every time it freezes or has a malfunction.

Reflecting & Sharing:

If I were to take this course again, I would definitely want to study about Fusion 360 on my own before starting this unit. I made no particular effort to become familiar with Fusion when setting it up with my class at the beginning of this course. I wish I had conducted some independent research since it would have sped up my understanding of what I had learned. Don’t take your time for granted is one piece of advice I would recommend to others. Despite the setbacks of online learning, I think that if someone had a positive approach about learning, they could still complete this project without too much difficulty. Next time I do something similar, I’d like to finish it right away, avoid procrastinating, and come to design during flex to do some extra work (even if I’m not behind). Since you can never predict when something may occur, it is essential to take all reasonable preparations to be ready for it.

I feel like I have challenged myself and put a lot of efforts into completing this project. However, this time, I used Maker case (as I’ve previously said) as a shortcut while creating the fingers on the boxes. If I had created these fingers by hand, it would have been a greater challenge for me. So the next time, I would rise to the occasion and avoid cutting corners.

In my opinion, this course was fantastic and enjoyable, however, but next time maybe add a few more videos so everyone can watch the videos instead of asking the teacher how to do each step. Additionally, I understand that there was a lack of spare time, but perhaps next time we can do a gallery walk to discuss our designs for the LED lamp and provide feedback to one another (we did one for the phone holder). I believe that the section where everyone learned how to use Fusion should be kept. It may be argued that the activity wasted a significant amount of class time or that some students didn’t find the tools helpful for their final project. However, I think it was a good way to start this course off, but no matter what you do, you have to master the fundamentals before moving on to more difficult tasks.

Overall, this has been an amazing unit and I am so glad to be a part of this. Reflecting back to the beginning of this unit, I have gained so much knowledge and improved myself as a learner. I will definitely do something similar to this in the future!! Thank you to everyone, especially Ms. Kim, who supported me and helped me throughout this unit.

The Deadliest Weapon that Ended War

A German chemist discovered an unexpected finding in a lab. When the uranium atom was in close proximity to a radioactive metal, it split into two. A lengthy adventure has just begun…

The book Bomb by Steve Sheinkin is the race to build and steal the deadliest weapon ever invented, the atomic bomb. This non-fiction thriller takes place during World War II and portrays the challenging and competitive times when Germany and the Allies raced to develop the atomic bomb first. On the other hand, the Soviets had their own strategy; they were going to seize the bomb while this mayhem was occurring.  Everyone was adamant about creating the bomb first and take pride for their country. Whoever constructs it first wins the war. Who is going to win? This story is told from a third person narrative voice representing the scientist’ perspective giving the readers an overview on the challenges scientists faced. While each team was doing continuous hard work, sabotages and manipulations continued to happen just to put them in the lead.

There are 37 chapters in this book, each of which presents the viewpoint of a different ally. The author presented World War Two from the scientists’ perspective, which is something I really enjoyed. This book is different (in a good way) from the other books I’ve read as the way Steve Sheinkin tells the story is quite unique.

The difficulties encountered when developing the atomic bomb would undoubtedly be the key idea. However, if you dissect it, you can find a number of key concepts and motifs. In my opinion, I think non-fiction books are supposed to have multiple central ideas as the author can’t change history. So, I decided to make notes for different sections and summarize them as a whole at the end. I had no idea how I wanted to take notes when I initially started this unit. But after trying with a variety of note-taking techniques, I eventually discovered the note formats that I prefer and that would work for my book.

Central ideas:

I used this format of taking notes (I call it “the box method”) for the main chapters in this book, this is my most frequently used one as I think it is helpful and can connect the themes, big idea, and evidence together. I did many note pages using this format but I chose to present the one I did for Chapter 19 because I feel like it’s the most significant one. I recognized the book’s main ideas, social issues, and themes so far and identified the fundamental concept: Using every advantage will help you get in the lead. In this case, the Norwegian team’s goal in this situation was to undermine Germany’s heavy water system, which was a crucial competitive disadvantage for them. The Norwegian team benefited from this because they gained an advantage. Take a look at my notes below:

The book stated that the Germans thought it was risky to keep the heavy water system in Norway. I came to the conclusion that they should always be made aware of while sending it back to Germany. However, the captain had no backup plans and was completely unprepared. The Germans’ two acts contradict to each other.

Cause & Effect:

People frequently ponder what led to the development of the atomic bomb. How did all of this begin? This invention may have a wide range of causes and repercussions. I started by outlining the central concept of the entire book, which is clearly the development of the atomic bomb. Then, I wanted to draw attention to the connections between many concepts and themes and how they combine to form a single overarching concept. Only one team managed to overcome these difficulties that everyone had to conquer. View my notes in the section below:

(Note: Apologies for the bad scanning quality and using two different colored pens for the “effects” section in my notes. My other pen ran out of ink)

Themes:

This book featured a variety of themes. After reading it, I wrote out the four main themes and gave my reasoning and evidence to it. In the modern world we live in, these concepts are applicable. This demonstrates how the past and present are interconnected. Things that have happened in the past might teach us valuable lessons about life. Steve Sheinkin gives the impression that we are seeing these individuals as they learn, which is something I enjoy. Furthermore, I noticed that the four key themes I’ve noticed are all the justifications Oppenheimer’s team used to successfully build the bomb. They are either the lessons the other teams learned as a result of the Oppenheimer’s team’s strike. Or they are the explanations for how Oppenheimer’s team was able to achieve. their objective. My notes are below:

Making Connections

This book can be related to numerous other books and actual events, as I noted on the previous note page. It may be related, for instance, to the book “Hidden Figures.” There were numerous African American women scientists in Hidden Figured who accomplished a lot without ever receiving recognition. The scientists in this “Bomb”, however, also didn’t receive recognition for their contributions. Typically, when people think about war, they only conjure images of political figures and fallen troops. After finishing this book, I understood that the effort these scientists put in to create the atomic bomb was the real cause of why World War 2 ended. Other connections you can build include the following, with more examples:

Thank you for reading my blog post! This book, which is among my favorite non-fiction selections, comes highly recommended. Steve Sheinkin is such a talented writer; I was immediately intrigued right from the start. The fact that there is a lot of dialogue, and few narratives makes this book even more realistic and compelling. I love how it combined historical and scientific ideas together.  However, I wouldn’t rate it a 5/5 because there were way too many characters and I couldn’t keep up after a while. But other than that, this book is still amazing!! Check out this book if you are interested in World War II.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a movie for this book yet, I really hope there would be one in the future. However, there is a graphic novel for this book if anyone wants to check it out, the link is here: Bomb Graphic Novel

I’ve had a wonderful experience with this unit, and it has motivated me to read more non-fiction books in the future!

Utensil Challenge Summative Blog

About this Project:

In this “Utensil Challenge,” we created a specific kind of utensil to make it easier to eat a particular kind of food. We are required to work in pairs to identify a dish that is particularly challenging to eat (in this case, tacos) and develop a better method of doing so. Six different stages were required of us, during which we planned and modified our design in response to input. We first made 10 different ideas of food utensil designs. Then chose the top 3 and allowed others to give us feedback. Last but not least, we chose our final design and improved it as much as we can.

All of Our Ideas:

During our brainstorming session, my partner and I came up with a total of ten ideas for ten different types of food that we find difficult to eat. Tacos were the first thing that came to mind. We came to the conclusion that everyone finds tacos a challenge to eat because the fillings always fall out.

So, in order to support the taco shell and prevent us from squeezing the fillings out, my partner and I designed a V-shaped taco holder. In order to push the taco out and allow a portion of it to come out of the taco holder (so that we may bite it), the taco holder also has a V-shaped plate at the back. There is a “railway-like” connection between this plate and the holder. There is a rubber handle located beneath the taco holder as well. Our hands won’t get dirty thanks to this handle. We also developed several other unique taco eating tools as a result of the taco holder concept. This taco idea, as well as the overall Mexican vibe, inspired us to create something very similar, but for burritos.

Then we remembered fast food and realized that chicken legs and drumsticks were difficult to eat as well, because the sauce always stains our hands, and the bone is also difficult to separate. As a result, we designed a silicone cover to go over the area where we hold the bone. To solve the bone separation issue, we devised a triangle-shaped design. The triangle shape keeps the bone from flying by force, while the two inner sticks can penetrate the chicken wing and separate the bones. This way, we would have two mini chicken wings/legs to eat.

Then, thinking about other fast food resulted in the idea of a big hamburger. They are very difficult to cut and eat and they fit in your mouth. So I wanted to decompress and suck out all the oxygen and deflate the burger. But then we realized that if the oxygen ran out, the vegetables would dry out too, making the burgers very unpleasant. After careful consideration, we realized that these burgers may not be eaten the right way even with an utensil. The whole concept and tradition of these giant burgers is to be made difficult to eatSo we stopped trying and decided to leave it at that.

At this stage, my partner and I were having trouble thinking of concepts and challenging meals to eat. Then we understood that we needed to adopt new perspectives. Instead of thinking of desserts foods that we can snack on, we place a lot of emphasis on foods that we can eat for one meal. My partner and I finally thought of the idea: Ice cream/popsicles, the most classic and refreshing dessert. However, the drawback is that they melt very quickly, without giving you time to enjoy it. The ice cream slides down each time they melt, leaving your hands sticky from the sugar. Therefore, my partner and I developed this ice cream stick handle. Since this hand is also silicone, it can be stretched to fit any popsicle stick. It also has a bowl-like structure on top so if the ice cream drips, it can drip in there. This is very easy to use and we can wash it as well.

After considering desserts, we came up with the idea of fruits. Most fruits are all very easy to eat, but those with seeds are less enticing. It is annoying to spit out the seeds repeatedly. A fruit with seeds is an excellent illustration of grapes. So, we created a miniature cylinder-shaped device that enables the seeds to protrude from the vine’s opening. The concept of salad was inspired by fruits because they are also nutritious and may be consumed raw. Since you can’t obtain a lot of vegetables in one bite, which would damage the texture and flavor.

My partner and I created a fork, which is designed with a much longer end so that more vegetables can be pierced through. We also made the ends sharper so it can pierce through vegetables/fruits more easily without squirting the juice out. Finally, my partner and I went back to the idea of fast food and thought about instant noodles. It is difficult to control the time, and sometimes the noodles are overcooked. We created this timer that would automatically open the cap as soon as the instant noodles are ready.

Feedback & Refinement:

After many eliminations and decisions, my partner and I decided to go with the three designs which are: the taco, chicken leg holder, and the instant noodle timer. We wanted to focus on the fast food theme, while also having diverse ideas. We received a lot of feedback from many people. Some are excessively broad, while others are the same concept. As a result, we reduced it to a few key concepts and chose to build upon them. In addition, my partner and I also developed a few independent concepts that were inspired by the responses. For example, someone said, “You should make taco holders for both V-shaped and O-shaped tacos”. My partner and I knew that “O-shaped tacos” were burritos, so this idea wasn’t very useful because we’re only making it for tacos. However, it did lead us to think that we should make our taco holder utensil to different sizes so any taco would fit in there. To add on to this, another person also wrote, “wish it could fit every taco”, this perfectly connects with our current idea so we knew that it was something we should improve. When someone else stated. “The machine isn’t washable,” it is another excellent example of feedback. That’s when my partner and I realized that we needs to reduce the complexity of the structure of the instant noodle (make it waterproof) and taco holding machine and make it easier to clean. So, we made the instant noodle timer waterproof and had the idea of making the taco holder fold, instead of having a “railway-like” slide with little details in it (sauce can go in there and it would be hard to get it out)

There were also comments saying asking, “is the timer going to be hot when the noodles are done cooking?”. This inspired my partner and I to think of the concept of making the timer out of an electric insulator. Because insulators don’t carry electricity, the timer won’t get too hot to hold. We could also create a rubber cover for the timer that prevents heat from the device from getting on your hands. Some feedback, however, could not be used because they were about the format of the explanation for my design rather than the actual thing I was designing. This wouldn’t help me because my final product isn’t in the format of my brainstorm.

My partner and I also tried to keep the part that people liked best. However, it may be difficult because the changes we made for the improvements made it challenging to retain some of the good parts. As a result, we incorporated the elements that people liked in their feedback into our new and improved design. The taco holder design was our final decision because, in our opinion , it would be the most useful. This improvement also has received the most input from others and has a lot of potential. Before the adjustment, our taco holder design measured an average taco size. It had a V-shaped plate that could be slid through the holder and pushed out to eat the taco (which is very hard to wash). It also had a larger and heavy handle to grip. But now, you can change the size of the taco holder to whatever size you want. It can be washed easily and shrunk to half its original size. Although the handle remains the same size as it must have a good grip, you can still remove it from the taco holder so it fits easily in your bag.

Reflection On My Project:

My partner and I settled on the taco holder design as our best option. This taco holder is comparable to the one I described previously. You can place a taco on its V-shaped holder, which has the same form as a taco. You can hold the handle that connects it. The holder is also telescopic. It is divided into two parts. The narrower component at the back can be slipped within the thicker part at the front, which is shaped like a tube. In this manner, the tube may be changed to fir any size taco by adjusting it to your desired size. The compactness and compatibility of this design are its strengths as well. The handle can be taken off and the holder can be put in half. This makes it easier to carry. Since it’s telescopic, it is also easy to wash. Unlike our first taco holder design, these two parts can be extended and washed, there also aren’t any small gaps so the food wouldn’t be stuck inside. In addition, the slippery material would be easy for the smaller part to side into. This taco holder can also last for a long time because it would either be made from stainless steel or plastic. These two materials are unlikely to be damaged and won’t rust, they are also completely waterproof.

But the weaknesses of this design is that it is heavy to take. The big handle and holder would weigh a lot. Although it is very unlikely that the food would get stuck inside of the bigger part, it could be hard to wash as well, because the opening is very small. Since the handle is made out of rubber, the rubber might wear off due to light, heat and the ozone. Rubber wouldn’t last for a long time. Last but not least, this design is very complicated to use. The customers might get confused because there’s so many different parts with functions.

Overall, this has been a very fun project to do!! I have learnt a lot and will definitely do something similar in the future.

Am I a Humanist?

Dark Blue & Grey Executive Infographic Lesson Design by Yolanda Mao [STUDENT]

The Mean Club

This is my found poem if it was put in a sentence: Rachel face turned pink sarcastic applause Laura looked to Diane’s mocking her hands pinned it and saw Rachel’s stricken look.

Overview:

‘The Mean Club” is a poem I wrote for my Grade 8 Humanities class; it is based on Rona Maynards’ poem ‘The Fan Club.’ In this story, the protagonist, Laura, is torn between joining the school bully’s ‘It’ group or standing up for Rachel, the one being bullied; she is insecure about herself and believes that everyone is gossiping behind her back.

Found poem Explanation:

Rona Maynard’s words were used to create this found poem. In this Story, ‘The Fan Club.‘ the protagonist, Laura has an internal conflict and struggles with whether she should stand up for Rachel or try to fit in with Diane. Laura recognized that Diane’s treatment of Rachel was wrong and felt sorry for her. On the other hand, she was self-conscious and worried about being bullied if she became friends with Rachel. For instance, it describes how Laura was feeling uneasy when she had to decide whether she would put the card on her sweater. At this very moment, when the internal battle is at its height, her hands were trembling. I used the words “looked” and “saw” to emphasize where the internal conflict occurred. Laura first noticed Rachel’s “stricken look” when she looked to Diane. This is the point at which Laura must decide which side she will take. She had to give up one side because both Diane and Rachel were fixated on her. I tried to capture the agonizing emotion of bullying as well as the humiliating feeling of being made fun of. I described how terrible it felt to be laughed at by using many descriptive terms like “bright pink” and “stricken.” Diane’s lack of empathy for Rachel shows how selfish and self-absorbed she is to the readers. I purposefully didn’t write what “her hands” were doing because I wanted everyone to understand that the most important thing is how someone is hurting the way person’s emotions, not what they are doing.  Aside from that, I tried to convey Diane’s strength by using the phrase “sarcastic applause.” This demonstrates how everyone is following Diane’s lead in mocking innocent people. They were all doing it “sarcastically” just for Diane to notice them. All of these people have chosen to do what they believe is wrong and continue to mock Rachel (in paragraph 56). Laura was influenced to do the same. We can also learn from my found poem that it is critical to stand up for what you believe is right, regardless of what others think. Don’t let other people’s opinions determine how you live. Genuine friends will accept you for who you are, not who you pretend to be.

Design Explanation:

Since raindrops might signify Rachel’s melancholy and hopelessness, I decided to utilize one as the background for my poster.  Rachel’s emotions are in contrast to the background color. The color white/yellow is normally associated with happy and cheery feelings. It represents Rachel’s earlier emotions. She hoped that Laura would choose to be her friend so she would finally have someone to defend her. But since she lost her only chance of having a friend, Rachel most likely feels neglected. Blue is a color that symbolizes grief and the feeling blue.  Furthermore, the yellow and blue colors can also contrast with Laura’s feelings. Laura is aware that she will experience both happiness and sadness regardless of who she chooses to be friends with. She will be relieved that no one will make fun of her if she sides with Diane and the “It” group. However, she would be enraged by Diane’s bullying behavior and would also feel bad for Rachel. But if she takes Rachel’s side, she will be happy that she is helping Rachel but also sad because Diane will single her out for attention. There is a pink flower that is covered in raindrops at the bottom right corner. The pink flower portrays Rachel’s face and is covered in tears because the text mentioned Rachel’s face “becoming pink.” In addition, it implies that Rachel has the potential to shine in front of everyone because flowers can develop into even more stunning ones. However, Diane and her classmates aren’t allowing her to develop in a joyful and healthy environment, which prevents her from becoming the extraordinary person she could be.
