Context is very important in photography. In the photograph “Wrong” by John Baldessari in 1967, without context it looks like a very poorly taken picture, with every “rule” of photography being broken and everything seeming a bit off. Knowing the context, like how the picture is titled “Wrong”, meaning the photographer purposefully meant to make everything a bit off and bad looking, it helps the audience appreciate the photo more by knowing that the bad parts of it are intended. Sometimes, a bad picture can be a great one if the context supports or amplifies the piece, and thus the story behind/that comes with it.
