Part 1

Beauty of nature
The message of my photograph will be to think of the happiness you have made in nature. Happiness is everywhere in nature. I  want my audience to know the beauty in the environment and feel relaxed and happy when they see my picture. For inspiration, I will find a photographer who can give me happiness through pictures. I want to find a photographer who pictures with warm tones and colors with low saturation and soft focus. In my opinion, happiness is the most important thing in the world, and seeing things in nature can make us feel better when we feel down.

Final Triptych-The Beauty in Nature

I want to create a joyful and happy mood for the audience; it works because flowers can make people relax. When my friends see my picture, they also feel relaxed. My success criteria are when my friends or other people see my picture, I will feel comfortable and happy without pressure. Clive Nichols gave me the final touch; she explored me through her pictures. Her pictures make me feel relaxed and happy, and when I feel sad and I see her picture, I feel so glad. I discover the theme, Because my theme is to make people and let them see my picture to improve their feelings. I want to take this picture because the flower is an excellent thing that makes you happy and relaxed. The photographer also takes pictures of the flowers. I just see the date angle of the photographer’s and copy it to my picture. My picture will always be like the main thing I want to express will be in the middle of the picture, and I like to take picture for one flower in many flowers. I want the viewer’s to know I use a lot of effort in taking these picture. Still, let them understand everything has their beauty, even a small flower in a big pile of flower they are still pretty. If I have more time I want to try taking pictures in different floral arrangements, lighting conditions, or even incorporating more abstract to make my photo better.

Photo Analysis

By: Uta Barth

The lights reflected on the wall and the orange fence, and the photographer thought the picture would be interesting.

If I were the photographer, the photograph would be called “Golden Reflection” because it captures the warm tones and the interplay of light and shadow on the wall.

Line: The feature of the image is a mild horizontal line, it forms by the reflection on the wall. These lines lead the viewer go through the image , create a clam feeling.

Shape: the shape mainly showed the light reflected a square on the wall. They are geometry, make a compare between the smooth wall.

Pattern: There is kind of  a small pattern, mainly reflection of the square, it make a pattern. But i think there’s  mainly no pattern.

Texture: The wall looks like smooth and luster, and the sofa under gives another texture to the picture. The soft fabric and the smooth wall make a contract.

Tone: The overall tone is warm, the gold color made the dominance. The warm tone aroused comfortable atmosphere, makes people interesting.

Focus: The focus is on the reflect things and the wall. It makes the viewer’s attention on the upper part, emphasize lights but not furniture.

PHOTO SAFARI

lines, shape

It worked because in the two pictures both use a line in the middle of the picture and split a picture into half, and the two pictures looks the same.

Texture shape

It worked because the square in the picture is in the same place as the example.

Pattern, texture

It worded because the texture in the picture and the example are the same and the pattern are the same.

lines, pattern, tone

It worked because it looks the same. And the pattern of the two picture are the same.

shape, lines

Picture 5 didn’t worked very well because in picture 5 the right side place was not the biggest place for the picture and at the middle of the picture there is a pillar so it is not what is in the example.

tone, shape, focus

Picture 6 didn’t work because there are other shape next to the main shape and the focus of this picture was not on the main shape. The tone of this shape is also not good the light on the main shape is darker than the other shapes next to the main shape. There’s also a line below the shape in the picture that I take. So this picture didn’t worked.

shape lines

Doesn’t worked so well, the texture of the picture is not the same as the example, the pillar is have white half silver.

pattern, texture shape

It worked the size of the shape are complete same as the example, They match with each other with element.

lines, shape, pattern

I think this picture didn’t word because in the picture there’s no change in the color, but in the picture that I take there’s other color.

lines, shape.

I think picture 10 didn’t work because the line in the middle is not from thick to thin but in my picture the line is only straight don’t have the change of thick and thin. Also the example picture the line is from left bottom corner to right up but my is not.

lines shapes tone

Picture 11 didn’t worded because the front part of the picture doesn’t have light we can’t see the front. And the angle of the picture is not right.

pattern, texture

This picture worked because it matches the pattern, the texture in the picture is close to the picture.

The 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 worked because the place where i found the picture was nice and I look for a long time to find. The elements that in the picture are close to the picture.

Formal Element of Photography

I think formal element is use the 6 elements(lines, shape, pattern, texture, tone, focus.) to make simple purpose into great shots.

Lines: there are lots kinds of lines in photograph, some are straight and some are curvy. Lines can also separate the picture into two different parts that tells the same thing.  They can also create direction and show movement in the photograph.

Shapes: they can make contrast between the subject and the environment. There are also straight edged and curvy shapes in a photo.

Pattern: by repeat the same shape, objects, and lines in a photo we can form patterns echos and reflections in a picture.

Texture: how the picture feels and how you think inside the picture would feel if you were in the picture.

Tone: is the level of how bright or how dark something is, the darkest tone is solid black, the lightest tone is pure white.

Focus: is the area appears the clearest and the sharpest in the picture.

DEFINITION

I think the definition of abstract photography is a catching picture with non-traditional thinking of shapes, patterns, colors, and textures instead of traditional picture taking.

Starting Point

Abstract photography can be defined as capturing images in which the subject isn’t the most interesting element. Albert Renger-Patzsch and Aaron Siskind photographed the ordinary to reveal their beauty. Uta Barth reversed the typical use of the camera, shooting out of focus and Andreas Gursky photographs the repetition of elements. During this unit, you will investigate appropriate examples of abstract photography and respond in your own way.

I think abstract photography focuses on catching images that have strange shapes, colors, patterns, and textures rather than clear subjects or simple scenes. The purpose is to let people remember their emotions or ideas through visual elements rather than through traditional pictures of reality.
