The Devastation and godsend Of Cuba

In this video, we discussed the major occurrences of the Cuban Revolution. We used different paper people to show what happened with us speaking for further explanation. We explained the election, how Castro started an attack on Cuba, and many more. Some of the Challenges would be editing the video/voice so that the movement would make sense.  Also, we had to adjust the lights and how loud the sound was I really liked how we worked as a team to overcome these challenges and discussed in a group the best way to make this video.

Lost In the Antarctic By Tod Olson

Lost In the Antarctic by Tod Olson describes how a crew of scientists and other travelers to the Antarctic, faces many challenges throughout the adventure.

This story starts in 1914 and 28 men attempted to travel to the Pole, they said that it would be a peaceful and amazing adventure. However, their boat got stuck on the ice, which caused them to travel by foot on ice. The book’s central idea is that you should not travel to Antarctica. There were a lot of crew members who died, but most survived. Did they successfully travel to the pole and did Shackleton-the main character- die?

this page shows how this evidence builds up to the central idea. I am really proud of how I paraphrased each sentence except the quotes and showed the page numbers of each piece of evidence I added to my page.

This page shows how I built up a new central idea for my book. The central idea is, ‘It is not the best place to go.” All of my description words support my claim of the new central idea. I also added page numbers for each of my evidence. I am proud of how I created a new central idea for the book because I felt like it was a little bit hard, since the book talks about how the boat got stuck.  Before there was not any connection between how the boat got stuck because they were speeding through the ice.

This page shows my other new central theme that I developed after reading deeper into this book. The central idea that was built up was, “There would always be a risk, but just how high the risk is.” Each of my evidence has a page number.  I also used highlighters to highlight words that describe the scenario.  I also used the evidence to connect to a central Idea. I am really proud of how I found some of the description words used on that page because Non-fiction books do not have a lot of usage for disruption words.

This page is the conflict map that I did on Day 4. This map shows what conflict Shelckton has throughout the part of the book that I read. I also added page numbers in each of my evidence. I am really proud of the work that I did on my page because it all shows a connection to conflicts and I did add page numbers to it.

This page is about the cause and effect of the book.  I used big scenes on the cause and added evidence of the effect of it. I also added page numbers for each of the effects that I wrote.  I am really proud of how I managed to find the effect of each of the scenes of the book.

This video shows how the ship looked when it traveled to the pole and it gives a brief description of the ship, how long this ship took to be discovered,  who Shelckton was, and where it was found.

How Humanist Am I???

Sweeney tod

For me (Jason Sun), I was indecisive and passive. This book is called Lather and Nothing Else. The author of This book is called Hernando Tellez. The story depicts a barber who is a revolutionist, giving a haircut to a man who opposes the revolution. Initially, the barber contemplates killing this man with his barber knife due to his rebellion. However, he ultimately decides against it, driven by the belief that no one deserves such a fate, and fear of potential consequences. In my poem, the internal conflict is evident through phrases like “it would be easy to kill him” and “no, no one deserves it.” These lines underscore the challenging decision the barber faces regarding whether to take a life, considering the man’s history of causing harm. The central character, the protagonist in this narrative is the barber, while the antagonist is Captain Torres, as the barber grapples with the decision to kill him or spare him. The pictures that I drew represented the conflict that is currently happening. For example, I drew a demon and an angel which represent 2 characteristics of the protagonist. One side is good and the other is bad. I had more space on the angel side since the barber did not kill Captain Torres. I also drew a barber knife since this is the equipment that is being used for shaving Captain Torres. The lines from my poem can be found on pages 3 and 4 of the book. To conclude, this poem and story portrays the moral dilemma of the barber and his internal struggle to make a difficult choice.
