Intro: A famous comedian named Trevor Noah wrote a book about his experiences and childhood memories in the book “born a crime” this book shows interesting facts and shocking details.
Summary: The book Born a Crime by Trevor Noah explains his experience with one of south Africa’s issues called apartheid that separates mixed people from society and in south Africa there were two races white and black and Trevor has always been in the middle but having a courages mother that protected him.
Central ideas: the central ideas in this book i noticed were humor and the way to switch into different situations, identity and race these are shown in many chapters and pages in the book no matter the difference of the description or sharing of his past and experiences. also racism was a big and main topic that was talked about which shapes a little of his identity, humor also shows.
In the booklet I took notes on some types of text structures like “in the table of contents I noticed it was divided and it probably must have shown the authors life was divided which shows his experiences” that is what i wrote for lesson 1 text structures. For lesson 2 I wrote some information in the booklet that was useful like “Dutch colonists/ soldiers arrived years ago in the book” and some definitions of legal laws under apartheid that was accepted, also some quotes i wrote were in chapter 7 Trevor’s mom brought two dogs and another quote in chapter 5 was “my mother showed me what was possible what amazed me about her was how she never made it seem like a sacrifice”
