Humanism Paragraph

I am 85% a humanist. When I was younger, I found classical art and culture very boring, but now it appeals to after I’ve learned about Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. Also because of this, Rome and Greece have made it to the top of my list of places I want to go, with my newly learned background knowledge to thank, I would love to see all the fascinating buildings. Not only am I interested in classical culture like the Renaissance Humanists were, I also value thinking for myself, also know as questioning everything, with great interest. This is immensely helpful to me nowadays since I need to determine rumors apart from each other. Especially where at school and on social media platforms, where trends and uncertain rumors exist. In these cases, I need to decide whether the information given to me is accurate.

Nothing Else But a Barber

I wrote the following found poem about the passage “Lather and Nothing Else”, by Hernando Téllez. This short story is placed during a civil war in Colombia, where a rebel barber decides whether or not to kill the antagonist “Torres”, who is a captain of the military, while giving him a shave. A noticeable conflict in the story is the internal conflict that the protagonist, the rebel barber, has between his two conflicting desires: to kill Torres or just to treat him like a regular customer. In my poem, I showed how the two desires in the barber’s head conflicted against each other by making the font and color of the two different thoughts contrast. I also referred to the angel versus the devil by making the “evil” thoughts red and the “right” thoughts blue.

Cardboard Arcade Project Reflection

During this design semester, I experienced lots of mistakes and learned from them. I also improved by watching previous games. Even though in the end, we didn’t finish, we learned about pneumatic and scissors. We wanted to use hydraulics and make a claw machine, but we didn’t plan our format and didn’t have enough time in the end. Next time, my partner and I plan on planning our work ahead of time and making sure our mechanism worked. I have learned a lot this quarter in design.

Welcome to Your New Blog!

When you blog you create posts and posts are categorised according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you. If you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category.
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This can include text, images, embedded videos from Dragons’ Tube or elsewhere. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
