Q1 Reading Reflection

Currently I am reading a few books. I usually read in my downtime in my room. I usually read  a few times a week. My favorite genres to read are realistic fiction, young adult literature, horror fiction, etc.
Specific: I want to be able to read a variety of genres
Measurable: I will read 1 hour each day
Achievable: I expect myself to read 30 books by winter break

1356_0011355_0011355_0011354_0011352_0011353_001The short story I read was called “My Side of the Story” written by Adam Bagdasarian. The main character is enraged when his brother, Skip put duct tape on his head and hurt him. He then went to his mother’s room, to go and tell on his brother to then find out that his mother was not in the room, but instead it was his father. His father was filled with anger when he found out that that his son bursted into the room just to snitch on his brother. His father then goes on to lecture his son and hit him. This conflict is external because it is a conflict between two characters. It is character vs character. The protagonist, is the main character, while the antagonist is the Dad and skip, (the older brother). For example, in stanza 47,  it states “ There was not much to do after that but sit at my desk and wonder what had happened. I had been signing my name, Skip put Scotch tape on my head, I ran to tell Mom, found Pop, and the lights went out. Where, I wondered, was the justice in that?….. That part I understood. The part I didn’t understand was the part about why my brother, who had started the whole thing by putting Scotch tape on my head, hadn’t been punished”.  The main chapter feels betrayed about the injustice. My graphic designs and artwork support my poem because on each page it’s a different picture to show the main concept of what’s going on within that page.

Welcome to Your New Blog!

When you blog you create posts and posts are categorised according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you. If you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category.
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This can include text, images, embedded videos from Dragons’ Tube or elsewhere. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
