In my own opinion, I will rate all the elements for a 5 out of 5.
First, art emphasizes values of all individuals, artists showed their ideas and perspectives in what was drawn, which were traded around the world; it spread many ideas. New techniques were also invented such as creating dimensional values. Unlike the Dark Ages, it is hard to spread ideas in society, in which citizens must listen to the lords and the king.
Secondly, new philosophy was created during the Renaissance after studying classical culture. The new philosophy changed the way individuals think based on their lives. For example, they might ask themselves how do I live, what would i do? In contrast, during the Dark Ages, most of the citizens did not have the right to control their own lives; they worked for others and been paid for little. This major achievement remains in modern lives; we can do whatever we want.
Third, education systems were promoted during the Renaissance, which led to how everyone could learn and study subjects like science, mathematics, art, and writing. This was different from the Dark Ages because the church was the only place to provide education which only some people could study in. While in the modern days, all individuals can get access to educational schools, which benefits me a lot.
Fourth, individuals changed their perspectives on religions. During the Dark Ages, everyone trusted in the Catholic Church for their afterlives, but during the Renaissance, people trusted the truce more because of the new philosophy which caused them to only view churches as institutions in the society. This is also what is happening in the modern days, we can choose to believe in a religion or not, and we are providing more scientific explanations than what God says.
Fifth, during the Renaissance, trading was popular, and things traded were art pieces and items that influenced society. These items emphasize individual’s ideas which if they were traded, then it means that knowledge just spread around Europe. Different during the Dark Ages, individuals can only talk about their ideas to people they know, but it cannot spread far and would not be influential. Now, in the modern days, we can simply express our own ideas on social media, and it will spread around the world, this benefits me a lot personally.
Lastly, I see these humanistic elements in my own life, some of which affect me a lot. In this case, I think i am a humanist since this is a humanist world, which I also feel like these elements benefit me a lot. It verifies how I live, going to school, spreading individual values and a lot more. To conclude, I feel like I am a humanist, since I agree with many of the concepts that humanism includes.
