For this unit’s last assessment, I want to focus on expressing culture and how it affects the later stages of our lives. Red is a color that represents power and courage, but sometimes also anger, fear, and urgency. My goal is for the audience to see the Chinese culture and history throughout the park using elements such as line, shape, and tone.
I want the audience to feel everything this color suggests: anger, fear, courage, and power, which can come to them as shock or surprise. There are many sculptures and graffiti that use the color red to show past events. They are very expressive, and I can take photographs that give strong emotion through lighting consideration and angles.
I will get inspiration from photographers like Duvy McGirr from her works, similar to “The Quest,” which she’s taken, that shows fine detail and texture, while also incorporating emotion. I will also develop ideas from looking at photos that make red areas stand out, and I can find them all over ISB.
History is essential to our lives because it has shaped our behavior and routines.
